Margaret Thatcher was an international stateswoman and a political giant who freed Britain from Labour’s economic tyranny of endless strikes, exchange controls, energy blackouts, and the Winter of Discontent.

She turned Britain around into a country to be proud of.

She brought down inflation, controlled public spending, encouraged entrepreneurship, and got people into work. She enabled millions of people to buy their own homes, increased social mobility, helped to end the Cold War, and secured the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.

She had conviction, courage, and global stature.

Burnham is just another Labour class warrior, caretaking the same old Labour circus with people who spend all their time fighting each other while destroying the fabric of our great country because they have no plan to govern Britain.

No words are big enough right now to overcome this empty feeling in the stomach. We were close, really close to another final but it wasn’t enough. We’ve given everything over these last 7 weeks and to fall short is hard to take!

I know the expectations are high and rightly so, we’ve been knocking on the door for 8 years now but again are missing that final piece of the jigsaw! That’s where we have to go away, process it and find a way to get better. I’m so proud of the boys and what we have shown throughout this tournament - some tough games and tough environments that we have overcome.

Some memories that will stay with us players and I’m sure you fans for a long long time! Going for glory doesn’t always mean you will get it. You have to fight for it, get knocked down, pick yourself up and go again and that’s what we will do, there’s no other way but to keep believing and keeping pushing.

The official Key Stage 2 results do NOT show that reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, maths and science have “all improved”.

Reading - unchanged.
Science- unchanged
Maths- up 1% point
Writing -up 1% point
Grammar, punctuation and spelling - up 1% point

Only 63% of children met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, up from 62% but still below the 65% before the pandemic. And attainment in every subject except reading remains below pre Covid levels.

Also ... these are Year 6 children who started primary school in 2019. You arrived in July 2024, after most of their primary education had already taken place. so er...

claiming their results as a Labour achievement is false.
“everything is improving under Labour” is spin and not an honest account of the figures.
