I am and always will be proud for supporting her— not a fan btw
And hearing her words sa kabila ng mga nangyayari ngayon, kailangan nating marinig 'to at ipaalala na minsan tayong nagkaroon ng pagkakataon para ipaglaban ang kapwa natin pilipino.

[DEPLATFORMING AND REDEMPTION]
Essay: A case study of Russu Laurente @wrive_russu
TL;DR
Redemption is possible, but not while you're still in the spotlight. The deepest changes often happen quietly, away from the noise. And when you return, people can feel the difference. They will welcome you back - not because you demanded it, but because you earned it.
🌪️ December 2020 – The Storm of Accountability
In the emotionally charged final months of 2020, with ABS-CBN still reeling from the loss of its franchise, loyal fans were grieving, frustrated, and hyperaware of any perceived betrayal. Then came the discovery of Russu Laurente's old social media posts. He had previously supported the network's shutdown. And he was now inside the Pinoy Big Brother: Connect house - a show produced by that very network.
The backlash was immediate. His posts resurfaced while he was still in the house, unable to defend or explain himself. Outside, a movement formed to evict him. It wasn't just a personal judgment. It became a symbol. A message that some things cannot be left unaddressed.
💔 January 2021 – The Fall and the Apology
When Russu was evicted, he stepped into the firestorm that had been building online. But he didn’t flinch. In one of the most genuine and vulnerable post-eviction interviews, he acknowledged that his earlier views were wrong. He opened up about being a young athlete from the province, shaped by echo chambers, misinformation, and limited experience.
He did not justify.
He reflected.
He admitted.
And most importantly, he rejected those views. This was the beginning of something more than just damage control. It was the beginning of growth.
💡 2021 – A Year in the Shadows
The rest of the year saw Russu take a step back. Unlike other housemates who continued their PBB journey in post-show events and media appearances, Russu chose a quieter path.
Still, he was not absent from the world. On platforms like Kumu, he participated in charity streams. He helped raise funds for typhoon relief and other causes. He appeared with housemates like Justin Dizon and Mika Pajares - they are individuals who were publicly aligned with the causes Russu once misunderstood.
There were no big statements. Just small, consistent actions. The kind that don't trend but matter deeply.
🩷 Early 2022 – Standing on the Right Side
By early 2022, during the peak of the national elections, Russu made a public statement of belief.
This time, in support of then Vice President Leni Robredo. Along with some of his Connect batchmates, he actively campaigned for the pink movement.
It wasn’t performative.
It felt like conviction.
For many who had once doubted him, this moment confirmed what his quieter actions had already hinted at: Russu had changed, and he wanted to be part of something better.
🌟 Late 2022 – The Artist Re-Emerges
Russu then joined Dream Maker, a survival reality show aimed at forming a Filipino-Korean global boy group. It was his first major re-entry into mainstream entertainment.
This time, the narrative was different.
He wasn’t defined by controversy but by talent. Audiences saw a gifted rapper, a natural songwriter, and a dancer with electrifying stage presence. There was grit in his movements, poetry in his verses, and sincerity in every performance.
He wasn’t chasing forgiveness anymore.
He was simply showing who he had become.
⚔️ 2023 – Grinding in the Shadows Again
Russu finished in 17th place
It was just shy of making the debut lineup for HORI7ON. But instead of seeing it as a failure, Russu used it as fuel. His social media became a journal of discipline and progress. Rehearsals, vocal warmups, dance workshops, creative sessions.
All of it documented.
He didn’t complain.
He worked.
This wasn’t about redemption anymore.
It was about purpose.
🎤 April 2024 – A Return on His Own Terms
In April 2024, Russu debuted as part of the P-Pop group WRIVE.
He didn’t return with noise.
He returned with skill.
His rapping had become sharper.
His dancing had evolved
It was powerful and magnetic.
The audience didn’t just see improvement.
They saw transformation.
This was no longer the boy who made a mistake. This was a man who had walked through fire, learned from it, and built something extraordinary with his bare hands.
🧠 Conclusion: What Russu's Journey Teaches Us
Russu Laurente’s path is proof that redemption is real.
But it does not happen overnight.
And it does not happen in the glare of cameras and comment sections.
True redemption starts with accountability.
Not a defensive apology
But an honest introspection.
Then comes silence.
The kind of silence where growth takes root
Away from validation
Away from attention.
Deplatforming isn’t always a sentence.
Sometimes, it is space to heal, grow, and prepare for something better.
When Russu finally returned, he didn’t ask the world to forgive him. He gave them something greater.
Aversion of himself that was wiser, stronger, and truer.
And when people saw that, they didn’t just forgive. They celebrated.
Please support our PBB Alumni, Russu.

Since ayaw po natin sa fake news, here are the key events that I am aware of w/ timestamps and ss. My previous post is not wrong but it was indeed missing the last three updates - CEU post, OP’s private IG Story, and OP’s generic chatgpt-style public apology.
However my main point remains true. The bg was never part of the issue, toxic blooms dragged the bg esp after ica denied its the gg. And when it was made clear na ndi ung bg ang involved, the toxic fans latched on a simple TY, grossly mischaracterizing the intention as “nakikisawsaw at nakiki hate train” when its the toxic fans who slandered them in the first place. Ndi nga nila pinagtanggol grp nila e, nag thank you lng kc namention sya. Masama na ba mag TY?
And this twisted pa victim narrative has been a std script whenever toxic fans like to rage bait and slander the bg. Tatlo nakita ko and I know mas madami pa yan. Paulit ulit tlaga. Char dev when??? Can we please agree this is the full story and moved on?
PS: I rdnc what actually happened wrt food and stopped following the issue when i learned ndi nmn pala ung bg ang involved kaya I was not aware of the last three updates previously. But tbh that public apology is so bland i cud hardly catch any sincerity. Fans shud go after the OP really but instead they keep ruining the bg’s character kc doon may clout, hence this long @$s research and post from me.
you can never take the a-team energy out of him👏🏻 yung galaw at facial expressions talaga grabe yan shea #bgyo_gelo
