On this day of 9/11 I am reminded that Trump called the local news so he could declare that his building was now the tallest building in Manhattan just hours after the Twin Towers fell.

He made 3,000 people dying about himself. Trump has been a piece of shit since day one.

Trump decided to skip the event after organizers refused his demand to break their rule of banning political remarks.

Think about how grotesque that is. On the 25th anniversary of one of America’s darkest days, the rule was simple: no politics — just honor the dead. Apparently, Trump couldn’t handle even that.

BREAKING: A federal judge appointed by Reagan rules that many of Donald Trump’s cuts to grants for the National Institutes of Health are now “void and illegal” and declares: “Have we fallen so low? Have we no shame?"

And he was just getting warmed up…

"I am hesitant to draw this conclusion, but I have an unflinching obligation to draw it – that this represents racial discrimination,” said District of Massachusetts Judge William Young. “And discrimination against America’s LGBTQ community. That’s what this is. I would be blind not to call it out. My duty is to call it out."

Many of the cuts were aimed at diversity, equity, and inclusion programs which the MAGA movement has condemned as “woke.” In practice, the Trump administration is entrenching discrimination against people of color and the LGBTQ community — red meat for the white nationalists and Christian nationalists who helped elect him.

In total, Young has ordered the NIH to move forward with disbursement on funding for 357 grants that Trump was trying to kill.

Judge Young condemned the administration’s racist agenda and stated that it’s “palpably clear" that the grant terminations were "designed to frustrate, to stop, research that may bear on the health – we’re talking about health here — the health of Americans, of our LGBTQ community.

“That’s appalling,” he added, stating that he’d "never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable."

"I’ve sat on this bench now for 40 years. I’ve never seen government racial discrimination like this ... I ask myself, how can this be?" he said according to Politico’s Kyle Cheney.

Judge Young said that he is Constitutionally protected in speaking out against this discrimination but wondered if he would have stood “against all this” if those protections weren’t in place.

“Would I have said, 'you can’t do this?' You are bearing down on people of color because of their color,” said Young. “The Constitution will not permit that," he said.

“Have we fallen so low? Have we no shame?" he added.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Rep. Jamie Raskin just introduced an amendment to BLOCK the provision letting 8 GOP senators sue the U.S. Government for MILLIONS for accessing their phone records in the Jan. 6 probe.

Raskin wants it OUT immediately and says House Republicans may sign on. 👉

At least two House Republicans condemned the provision.

And for good reason:

The entire thing is ridiculous. The Senators’ phones were NOT tapped and investigators did not have access to text messages. investigators were only provided a list of numbers the Senators called.

If the provision moves forward, it could allow for $500,000 for each device subpoenaed. If a Senator has a personal, work, and campaign phone they’d be entitled to at least $1.5 million - plus another $500,000 if they weren’t notified of the subpoena.

Raskin said the hypocrisy was outrageous:

“I'm tight with a number of the police officers who defended our lives on that day. More than 140 officers were violently assaulted, wounded, injured, disfigured, disabled, forced out of their line of work.

You know how much money the majority in Congress has given them and their families?

ZERO.”

The total abdication of responsibility by Republicans in Congress to Trump’s singular whims are an important part of why 7 million people were in the streets yesterday. Conservatives used to appreciate the separation of powers and the checks they provide on executive overreach.
