I'll be so honest. I never understood this, or felt it. From the start all I've felt is excitement and hope.
When I started messing with AI, I had been illustrating and writing code for years, I had made a job out of creating art even.
But all I felt was excitement at what I was immediately capable of. At first it was just "Wow I don't need to find references anymore, I can just make them how I want". Then it was "Oh I don't need first drafts anymore this is awesome". On and on, until now where I barely need to make edits. Its genuinely so exciting that I can execute my creative vision nearly as fast as I can have the ideas to begin with.
This lets me create projects in weeks or months that would have taken years before.
The same happened with code, to the point where I don't think I've actually hand written a line of code in 5 months.
I can do so much more, with so much less time, and for so much less investment. My ideas can turn into full demos within days and completed projects in weeks. And the slowest part of the loop is still me, testing, making up my mind about features, etc. Honestly this has actually improved my own thinking speed, because the faster I can iterate on my ideas in my head, the faster they can exist in reality.
I have never felt more creative freedom as an artist or a programmer than right now. I can make anything I want.
If I had to guess, I think some people feel sad because they are told it's what they are supposed to feel. I got into this before it was taboo, I never had that social pressure. I got to see it for what it was, the single greatest creative tool since mankind discovered pigments.
If you're someone who feels sad about hand code and illustration disappearing from industry, and you've read this far, I challenge you to think bigger. Use AI to build a ridiculous solo project that you think is impossible for one person. Use it to explore new ideas or new styles.
I'm actually doing that right now. I've never messed with low-poly 3D before as an art form or for games, but I'm learning to use it and having such an awesome time doing it.
@RealAstropulse It’s the difference between thinking with opportunity vs your entire identity being in what you do (which is only limiting to what your capable of, stemming from low self esteem)..
This is really the same pattern you see in every area of life this just amplifies it.
@Samhanknr@championswimmer@dteam69@poteto I think the issue isn’t that you agree or disagree- it’s the fact that you aren’t giving anyone a concrete thought that we can verify.
That’s the entire point of why people are engaging with you because we want to know why you claim this- but this entire thread is ambiguous.
@SKatalystAI Yeah I’m hanging on to my last subscription basically until the final day and cancelling.
same sentiments. It’s hard especially because in my case, open ai has just been sloppy with how it writes code- to a point where it’s taking short cuts for efficiency gains. Hard to use.
@cherry_mx_reds Bro even with specific instructions I literally can’t even trust codex anymore outside of non-consequential tasks.
The amount of shortcuts it takes to complete a task or gets stuck on loops is actually crazy.
@SenseiMech@44Exploration@tripoai Super intelligence and it’s a very real threat if we can’t get there first.
Especially for cyber defense. Nothing to do with 3D modeling though.
@Compilethings@DavidOndrej1 I am too but at the same time it’s obviously where things are heading- even for me- I have 4 pcs running at once with my agents (not even local models) and Im overwhelmed needing more compute.
I’m about to seriously look into cloud options.
