was last used as toilet paper.
The sheet, once a beautiful scroll, preserves two columns of text and was discovered among the trash mounds at the ancient Egyptian city of Oxyrhynchus.

@presjpolk I just saw it: v faithful to the structure of the Homeric poem, esp since the complex time scheme (flashbacks, stories in story) really appealed Nolan's baroque imagination. Even Nolan's ending alludes to the problematic non-closure of the Odyssey. So very much the Odyssey.

Nolan doesn’t adapt Homer; he Nolanizes him. Homer’s poetic voice gives way to modern, blockbuster-style dialogue, while the epic’s layered mythology and complex characters are simplified. The result may be a great film, but it feels more like Nolan than Homer. #homer #odysseia
