Today Mamata Banerjee has fallen into the trap she allowed to grow over the last decade.

Despite enjoying a full majority, she allowed the RSS to expand across West Bengal. She never seriously confronted the organisational penetration that was gradually making Bengal fertile ground for the BJP.

In 2022, she even said, "I don't think RSS is bad."

She appears to have assumed that the BJP was still the same party that Atal Bihari Vajpayee once helped build to challenge Congress. It was a serious miscalculation.

Today, she is witnessing the consequences of that strategy and has effectively lost control of large sections of her own political space.

She was eaten by the animal, unleashed by herself.
