There is something almost poetic about the wings inside EVANโs lightstick. Notice how they are enclosed within a cage? As if they were meant to be contained, defined, kept within the limits of something smaller than themselves. And yet, they spill through the bars.
The cage has boundaries.
The wings do not.
No matter how carefully the walls are built, they cannot make the sky smaller. They cannot teach wings to stop reaching. They cannot turn something born to fly into something meant to remain enclosed.
Perhaps that is what freedom looks like before the cage is ever opened.
Not an escape.
Not a door finally being unlocked.
But wings growing beyond the shape of the walls.
The bars are still there, but they no longer define the horizon.
And the more I look at it, the more this feels like a reflection of EVAN himself. His music, his narrative, and the journey he has chosen to take as a solo artist.
From the reflections he shared in his interviews, to the raw freedom of Ride or Die, to the very idea of OVERFLOW... There is something deeply consistent in the symbolism of breaking past what is meant to contain you.
The cage may frame the wings, but it cannot contain them.
The boundaries may exist, but they cannot determine how far they can reach.
Just like the light spilling beyond the cage, his artistry spills beyond every box, expectation, and predefined limit.
Maybe that is the most beautiful kind of freedom: when you realize that the boundaries around you were never the boundaries of how far you could go.
Some things were simply never meant to fit inside a cage.
They were meant to overflow.
They were meant to spread their wings.
They were meant to fly.
