@amandaa_fuller That’s tough to navigate. Jan feeders have had 3- 60+ dollar moves since July 1. So we are talking 3- $500/hd +|- swings. Stressful on everyone. Everyone wants to be on the right side of every move. They say it takes a steady hand, but you better hold on with the other one.

Dear @SecRollins
If you want to regain positive public relations with farmers and ranchers, try visiting with actual farmers and ranchers. Not the ones NCBA, Farm Bureau, or a number of other lobbying groups refer you to, but actual producers who work too hard on their own farms and ranches to have time to be part of a lobby. It’ll change your perspective about the needs of the agricultural industry and they’ll have some solutions to the problems plaguing agriculture that will actually do some good.

I wanted to keep this moment to myself, but then I thought about how these things can really connect with people. (This story isn’t to say I’m a good person, just that I truly believe in Gods timing and prayer)

So I had a little God driven moment earlier this week.

I went to mow at our processing plant, great thinking time.

Opened up the shed…looked at the mower, I acknowledged in my head I was going to run out of gas. For some reason I decided that was ok. Mowed for about 25 minutes, ran out of gas.

I run down to the truck stop. I’m on the phone pumping gas, but I locked eyes with a woman who looked like she just hit rock bottom. She said “sir, sir”…I hang up…she starts sobbing, “can you look at some of these things I have to sell, I’m completely out of money. I’m trying to get my son back to Florida” (he was 6 or 7) - I can’t imagine the humility it took to ask this. I could tell she wasn’t lying, I could tell she couldn’t believe she was in this situation.

I said wait 5 minutes, I don’t have anything on me I’ll be back. I ran to the plant, got some snacks and what cash I had available.

I came back and told her God has bailed me out so many times and blessed my family, and given me peace and calm through a lot. This is from him, that’s why I was here right that moment. I feel lucky I got to help. She just erupted, you could tell by her reaction she had just prayed. She’s crying Thank You, Thank God. I said what are your names, I’ll pray for you.. and I left.

I pulled around the back side of her car and to boot she had one of those Jesus stickers that says “I saw that.” 😂

So many of us are so fortunate to get to focus on business problems or growth problems, not the basics of life. When I was young and dumb and talked to God a lot less I think I would have thought “you got yourself into this situation..” but I have been sufficiently humbled. I have worked hard and came up backwards and I have had things fall in my lap that could only be from the lord himself. Anyway, I genuinely felt like I got used by him in that moment…and it was the best part of my week. And to boot I have no doubt it mega strengthened her faith, and it certainly did mine.
