A former Canadian Senator and prominent leader in the Jewish community has just made one thing clear: Linda Frum is an Islamophobe.

Equating the Muslim value of sacrifice with jihad, and then equating jihad with terrorism, is textbook Islamophobia. It erases the spiritual, ethical, and deeply human dimensions of a term that millions of Muslims hold sacred, and reduces an entire faith to a threat.

This isn��t a slip of the tongue—it’s a deliberate dog whistle. And it’s dangerous.

Muslim Canadians are not newcomers to this country’s story—they are central to it. They have sacrificed, contributed, and thrived in every sector of our society. To cast suspicion on their values is to cast suspicion on their belonging.

Islamophobia like this—from someone who once helped shape national policy—is not just offensive. It’s disqualifying.

We must name it. We must challenge it. And we must recommit to a Canada where no one’s faith makes them a target.

The live telecast of the Supreme Court Practice & Procedure Bill, 2023 is a welcome development. The Honourable judges of Supreme Court are asking very pertinent questions regarding the regulation of their powers

However, the people of Pakistan want the guardians of Pakistans constitution to hold a public hearing on :

-on the violation of their fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution over the last two years
- the delay in elections which has denied the people of Pakistan in two provinces, the right to elect their public representatives
-the endemic of rape & sexual violence against women & children
- the brutal use of force & lawlessness by the police
- the weakening of country's justice system whereby orders of courts are disregarded with impunity by civil servants & police

And the list is quite long. The highest court of law in Pakistan & the Chief Justice of Pakistan has the responsibility to uphold rule of law in the country. That responsibility goes beyond the regulation of their powers.
