You are asking a very valid question because the "Visa Myth" is the main reason many Muslim men mistakenly walk into the Registry trap. They assume the Embassies require the "Marriage Act" specifically. That is actually false.

You do not need a Statutory Marriage (the one that traps you under English Law) to travel. What Embassies (UK, US, Canada, etc.) require is simply Government-Recognized Proof of Marriage. You can get this without criminalizing your rights or signing the Act.

The solution is simple and starts with your Mosque. Most standard Islamic organizations and Central Mosques now issue formal Nikkah Certificates immediately after the wedding. You simply take that specific certificate to your Local Government Area (LGA) to register it as a "Customary/Islamic Marriage."

The LGA officials use your Mosque certificate as evidence that a valid marriage took place and will issue you a formal, government-stamped attestation. This document is fully recognized for visa applications because it is a government-issued proof of a legal union, but crucially, it keeps your marriage under Islamic Law, not the Marriage Act. You get your travel papers without ever signing away your rights.
