יום ירושלים 2026 -
לפני 90 שנה סבא שלי, אליהו מרידור, עלה ארצה והצטרף בשנת 1937 לפלוגת הכותל באצ״ל.
המשימה היתה להגן על מתפללים יהודים ולהבריח ולתקוע בשופר ביום כיפור בכותל המערבי, בניגוד להנחיות הבריטים.
בהמשך, הפך למפקד האצ״ל בירושלים.
החלום שלו ושל חבריו היה… ירושלים…

בשנת 1948, במהלך מלחמת העצמאות, הוא איבד עין בקרב על ירושלים, ליד בית הספר לשוטרים בשיח׳ ג׳ראח.

סבא שלי ערג לירושלים, חלם עליה כל חייו, ועשה - הלכה למעשה - כל שיכול על מנת לשחרר אותה.
אך הוא לא זכה לראות את איחודה.
סבא נפטר בשנת 1966, לפני שחרור העיר ולא זכה לראות את הכותל בידיים ישראליות. הוא לא חי בירושלים שלמה ומשוחררת.
אנחנו, בני דור הנכדים, חוגגים את היום הזה גם בשבילו, מגשימים לו את החלום.
