BIG: US forces exit Iraq by tomorrow after 20+ years, ending a presence where 4,500 Americans died.

Iran-backed groups call it "a historic victory" and "a crushing defeat for the American project."

Iraqi security officials warn the withdrawal is premature.

The last US soldier killed in Iraq died in July during a drone detonation near Erbil.

Seven of 18 US service members killed in this year's Iran war died in Iraq.

I received in audience Abba Hikima Esq, one of the leading conveners of the Tinubu Must Go #TMG Nationwide Campaign, following the movement’s recently concluded nationwide poll, which recorded an impressive participation of 109,799 respondents.

I am particularly encouraged by the depth of citizen engagement reflected in the exercise, in which my candidacy received an overwhelming 73.6% of the votes, with the ADC emerging as the preferred political platform.

Beyond the outcome of the poll, what is significant is the larger aspiration it represents: a growing national yearning for change and the collective determination to rescue Nigeria from its present trajectory.

I fully endorse the movement and invite all Nigerians who share this aspiration to join this noble cause. I also look forward to engaging with the wider national leadership of the Tinubu Must Go movement as we work together towards the larger objective of rebuilding a united, prosperous and democratic Nigeria. -AA

You Can Get Away With Anything In Nigeria If You Have The Right Political Connections - Sanusi

You have institutions that are supposed to identify corrupt people and prosecute them. You have courts that are supposed to do it. We have seen in this country people who are facing corruption charges who basically just get those charges dropped because they belong to the right political environment or have the right political support. We have people who have legal processes where people are questioning if in fact, it is a fight against corruption or political persecution.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Nasiru Bello Kankarofi, must be removed from office over his repeated arrests and detention of citizens and political critics in the state governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo

The Nigeria Police Force must never become an instrument for suppressing free speech, silencing dissent or settling political scores on behalf of any governor.

Kogi citizens have constitutional rights to speak, criticize their government, organize and peacefully dissent. Those rights are not privileges to be granted or withdrawn by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo or the Commissioner of Police.

The CP has severally facilitated political intimidation under this command demand that CP Nasiru Bello Kankarofi must go!

I was able to access the detention centre where 37 young men died in NSCDC custody.

The room was tiny, with barely any ventilation, and I could smell the bodies of those who had died.

A survivor told me how they drank their own urine and sweat just to survive, and how officials ignored their cries for help.

The government says investigations are ongoing to establish what happened.

🇺🇸🇮🇱 The Trump administration is preparing sweeping sanctions against the International Criminal Court that could effectively cut the institution off from much of the global financial system due to the indictment against Benjamin Netanyahu, according to WSJ.

The measures would prohibit most transactions with the ICC after a six- to seven-month grace period, potentially preventing the court from conducting U.S.-dollar transactions.

The US already sanctioned individuals in the court

The Nigerian authorities must end the ongoing harrassment and intimidation of JKD Radio/Television by Kaduna state police command which declared the organizations’ radio presenter Zainab Salihu Yabagi wanted over a video explainer on Mr. Ibrahim Masari - a Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

On 11th September 2026, heavily armed police contingent invaded Kaduna studios of the media organization, and forcefully gained access to the premises, first on the pretext of looking for Zainab Yabagi in connection with a “stolen phone.” During the raid the General Manager Charles Abah and a security personnel were arrested and later detained for over seven hours.

It was only days later that police stated that journalist Zainab Yabagi is being hunted over bizarre allegations of criminal conspiracy, defamation and cyberstalking and bullying in connection with Mr. Ibrahim Masari.

Declaring a journalist wanted for just doing her job is part of the alarming pattern of shrinking civic space in Nigeria, where journalists, activists, and human rights defenders increasingly face arbitrary arrest, intimidation, harassment and prosecution and other reprisals for peacefully doing their job.

The Nigeria police must always uphold the due process of law and not become a tool in the hands of politicians by carrying out arbitrary arrest, detention, and other undue restrictions of media freedom and freedom of expression.

President Bola Tinubu’s government must end this disturbing pattern of attacks on the media and arbitrary arrests aimed at intimidating journalists. Journalists and the media must be independent to carry out their work freely, safely and without fear of reprisals.
