'Saum' is the only pillar of Islam that has a unique status that all the ayaat related to it are gathered in one place in the Quran, in Surah Al-Baqarah (183-187).
But then, a doubt arises…
Ayah 186 seems different from the rest:
وَإِذَا سَاَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
"And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me and believe in Me that they may be guided." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:186)
At first glance, it may seem like a mismatch—why is this ayah about Allah’s closeness placed in the middle of the fasting ayaat?
But can anything in the word of Allah ﷻ be abrupt or out of context? Never.

KAFIR (کافر)
Kafir—a word that sparks a sense of hatred among Hindus and, among Muslims, negligence. In recent years, it has gained much attention, with platforms like "WhatsApp University" perpetuating its use to promote hate and deepen the divide between the two communities. However, the reality of this word is different—surprising, even—for both sides.
The word Kafir literally has three meanings: Denier, Ungrateful, and Concealer. In the Qur'an, it is used in multiple contexts, generally referring to those who deny, be ungrateful, or conceal the truth after it has been clearly and convincingly proven to them. The key point here is that a person can only be labeled as a Kafir if the truth has been presented to them with utmost clarity and they still deny it. Until then, they are referred to as Ghafil, meaning someone who is unaware or unfamiliar with the truth—specifically, the oneness of God.
Those calling themselves Muslims may also be Kafir if they lie under the category of being ungrateful or concealers of Truth.
It is the duty of Muslims to convey the message of God's oneness to those who are unaware, with utmost compassion and kindness. It is worth noting that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never referred to anyone as a Kafir, even those who openly opposed him throughout his life.

I had posted my condolene for the fire victims a few days ago but the fire continues unabated. More lives are lost and many more people have to leave their homes. I share in your sorrow and pray for comfort and healing as you navigate this tragic loss. May the departed rest in peace and may the survivors find strength during this difficult time.

A Reminder of Life’s Fragility
I am sure that my friends and followers also feel as I feel. These tragedies remind us of our helplessness in the face of unforeseen events. In the case of the train accident, the approaching train could not be seen due to a curve in the track. Similarly, the wildfire, which began on January 7, 2025, highlights the fury of nature — even the most advanced nation, equipped with modern tools, struggles to extinguish it.
Such incidents serve as a reminder that no matter how strong a man becomes, he is still helpless before God. None of us is safe from the eventual end, even when least expected. They serve as a powerful reminder of life’s fragility and the limits of human power. Should we not reflect on our lives and remain prepared for the next life, at every moment?
Akhand Bharat Means “One Earth for One Humanity”
The Earth was once a unified land with no internal boundaries, known as countries today. The formation of nations stemmed from usurpation and the attacks on weaker groups and their subjugation by stronger ones. Even after nations emerged, unrestricted travel was common, barring isolated exceptions. However, the globally formalized Passport and Visa system began in the 20th century, symbolizing a political order driven by power rather than Dharmic principles.
While natural love for one’s birthplace is valid, excessive nationalism leads to arrogance and fascism. Aggressive nationalism contradicts Dharma, which emphasizes universal brotherhood beyond political divisions.
Which of the two will you prefer, the oppressive political divisions or embracing the Dharmic ideal of equality, love, and global unity of all humanity?

Satyug — Ram Rajya — Vishwa Guru Bharat
(The Age of Truth — Kingdom of God — India, the Global Mentor)
The concepts of #Satyug, #RamRajya, and #VishwaGuruBharat have deep roots in India’s cultural and philosophical traditions. While these ideas have been referenced by religious leaders, philosophers, and reformers for centuries, in recent times #GayatriPariwar and #RSS among Sanatan Dharmis, #BrahmaKumaris, and an NGO #WORKCharitableTrust (with mostly the Muslim members) have come up with the conviction that the advent of Satyug is not far. Prominent individuals and even political entities like the BJP have also begun emphasizing that India is approaching Satyug and will become a Vishwa Guru. Among these, WORK uniquely links all three ideas as interconnected.
Satyug: The Age of Truth
Sanatan Dharmi traditions unanimously regard the current era as #Kaliyug (the Dark Age), foreseeing the arrival of Satyug, where truth prevails in the form of True Sanatan Dharm. Similarly, Muslims envision an A’sr-ul-Haq (عصرالحق)or Daur-e-Haq (دورِ حق), the Era of Truth, marked by the triumph of true Islam. Both perspectives agree that only the Truth will prevail in Satyug and also that it will not emerge automatically — it requires self and collective transformation where we shall have to accept the Truth.
Ram Rajya: The Rule of Truth
Satyug logically leads to the establishment of Ram Rajya or the Rule of Truth, a state of justice and harmony. Muslims call this Hukoomat-e-Ilahiyah (حکومتِ الٰہیہ), and Christians refer to it as the Kingdom of God. The sage, Tulsidas described Ram Rajya as below:
दैहि��� दैविक भौतिक तापा। राम राज नहिं काहुहि ब्यापा॥
सब नर करहिं परस्पर प्रीती। चलहिं स्वधर्म निरत श्रुति नीती॥
(In 'Ram Rajya', no one is afflicted by physical, divine or material troubles. All human beings love each other and follow their religion as per the Vedic principles.)
It is a rule in which the society is free from physical, spiritual, and material suffering, where:
Health and well-being are prioritized.
Hatred is replaced by universal love.
The Word of God (Shruti) guides all actions.
Vishwa Guru Bharat: India as the Global Mentor
Indian scriptures and Islamic traditions describe India as the cradle of civilization. According to Sanatan Dharma and WORK’s interpretation of Islam, Satyug will arise from India, making it the Vishwa Guru. However, being a global mentor does not stem from political power, economic success, or military might but from moral and spiritual leadership acknowledged by the world.
Sequence of Transformation
The logical sequence is:
Satyug in India → Ram Rajya in India → Vishwa Guru Bharat → Satyug worldwide → Ram Rajya worldwide.
Conclusion
For Satyug to dawn, Indians must reject falsehood in beliefs, politics, media and daily life. Ram Rajya will arise when the society is guided by the spirituality as taught by Shruti (Word of God), free of superstition, hatred disappears, and health takes precedence over arms. This transformation will position India as a model for the world, leading to Satyug and Ram Rajya — Daur-e-Haq and Hukoomat-e-Ilahiyah. Eventually, boundaries will dissolve, arms industries will fade, and true peace will reign, ushering in a united, harmonious Earth.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-Aalameen)
Ham’d is a genuine expression of praise for someone’s work that benefits humanity. However, Al-Ham’d signifies a unique, elevated praise.
When we say:
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
(“The Special praise is for God who is the Evolver and Sustainer of all the worlds” - Q. 1:2),
we acknowledge that God, truly praiseworthy, has no need for praise. As the Evolver and Sustainer of all creatures in all realms, He is entirely Self-Sufficient. His praiseworthiness manifests throughout creation, independent of human recognition. By uttering this ayah, we affirm His supreme attributes.
Du’a: A Sacred and Private Connection with Your Lord
It is customary among a significant number of Muslims to gather in congregations for Du’a (supplication), led by an Imam who prays aloud, with the followers responding with loud "Ameen" after each prayer.
In many Muslim groups, Du’a following a program is considered a special occasion, often drawing people from distant places. These supplications can sometimes exceed half an hour or even an hour and are regarded as a highly virtuous practice.
Let us reflect on what the scriptures say about this.
Hazrat Eisa (a.s.), the revered Jesus Christ, is reported to have instructed his followers:
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.”
(Matthew 6:5–7)
The Qur’an also cautions against loud supplications, emphasizing humility and discretion in prayers. It describes those who supplicate loudly as transgressors and heedless. Consider the following Ayahs:
“Call on your Sustainer humbly and in secret. Surely, He does not love those who transgress the limits.” (Surah Al-A’raf 7:55)
“Remember inwardly your Sustainer humbly and with awe, and without raising your voice, in the morning and evening. And do not be one of the heedless.” (Surah Al-A’raf 7:205)

THE PROPOSED WAQF BILL IN INDIA
Mismanagement and Misuse of Waqf Properties by Muslims
The Government of India estimates the total Waqf property area at 9.4 lakh acres, valued at ₹1.2 trillion. Even a 5% annual income could yield ₹60 billion (₹60 अरब), productive to some extant to improve the condition of 5 crore Muslims below the poverty line. Combined with Zakat, estimated at ₹500 billion (₹500 अरब) annually, poverty among Indian Muslims could be eradicated within a decade. (Where is Zakat vanishing is another tragic story). Coming to the Waqf, the actual annual income from Waqf properties is only ₹2 billion. Where has the remaining ₹58 billion gone?
Official records reveal that 58,889 out of 872,351 Waqf properties are encroached upon, over 13,000 are under litigation, and the status of 435,000 properties remains unknown. Only 365,462 properties generate income, often at rates far below market value. Encroachments by the government, land mafia, politicians, and wealthy businessmen are rampant. Sadly, much of this was enabled by Muslim caretakers, including Mutawallis and Waqf authorities, who violated both the law and Shariah.
Given 8 decades of misappropriation and mismanagement, is it wise any more to leave Waqf properties under the control of Muslim caretakers?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
The Proposed Amendment
The government, under the pretext of improving Waqf management, has proposed a bill that would transfer control from Muslims to the state executive (read: RSS). Should Muslims accept this?

Unfortunately, there seems to be no solution. It is a case of:
"Out of the frying pan and into the fire"

Following story was published in many renowned newspapers and channels.
Renowned Author worth ₹80 crore Passes Away in Old-age Home.
Shrinath Khandelwal, a celebrated author from Varanasi, passed away on Saturday at the age of 82. Despite owning property worth crores and having authored over 400 books, Shrinath spent his final days in obscurity and loneliness. Due to his family’s apathy, he had been living in the Kashi Kushth Seva Sangh Old Age Home for the past year.
Estranged by his son and daughter, they neither cared for him during his lifetime nor attended his last rites. One of his two sons was a businessman, and his daughter is reported to be a Supreme Court advocate. Social activist Aman Kabir, along with his associates, performed the cremation rituals.
Shrinath began writing at the age of 15. He authored and translated over 400 texts in six languages, including notable works like the Shiv Puran and Matsya Puran. His books, sold both online and offline, remain highly popular. At the time of his passing, he was working on the Hindi translation of the Narasimha Puran, a project he could not complete.
It is a tragic irony that despite owning assets worth ₹80 crore, controlled by his children, his life ended in an old age home. His story serves as a poignant reminder of the value of relationships and humanity.

This is a deeply tragic and heartbreaking tale. I invite readers, especially the WORKers of WORK, to reflect on this story, which is sadly not an isolated case. The number of elderly individuals abandoned by their children in old-age homes continues to rise daily. New Year Resolution:
The Creator did not create humanity without purpose.
Yet, most people live without reflecting on it.
Among those who care, many remain uncertain and only speculate.
Even among those who know, only a few act accordingly.
Blessed are those rare individuals who understand this purpose and align their lives with it. This is a logical truth for anyone who believes in a Creator.
As we approach the new year, it is customary to wish ‘Happy New Year’ to friends and acquaintances. This gesture of goodwill is a mark of decency, and there is no harm in it.

Here is my reflection for you as 2024 comes to a close:
At the end of each day, ask yourself:
Was today better than yesterday?
Did I make any progress toward my ultimate purpose?
If today was no better than yesterday, then you have stagnated—and stagnation is akin to death. You have not been alive today.
If you fell behind, even slightly, you have stepped a few steps towards Hell-Fire.
But if you moved forward, even by a few steps, then blessed are you! Congratulations and greetings.
Let this daily self-assessment be your final task of every day.

Difference Between 'Nifaq' (نِفاق) and 'Infaq' (اِنفاق)
In Arabic, it is not uncommon for two words derived from the same root (مادّہ) to carry opposite meanings. ‘Nifaq’ (نِفاق) and ‘Infaq’ (اِنفاق)are two such words, both stemming from the root ‘Na-fa-qa’ (نفق).
‘Nifaq’ means hypocrisy. A person exhibiting Nifaq is called a ‘Munafiq’ (hypocrite).
‘Infaq’ means spending in a good cause. A person practicing Infaq is regarded as virtuous.
These two words—one symbolizing a virtue and the other a vice—derive their meanings from fascinating linguistic dynamics associated with the root.
The root ‘Nafaq’refers to a passage with two openings. For example, mice build their underground nests with at least two exits—one for entering and another for escaping in case of danger. This structure is called ‘Nafaq’ in Arabic.
Similarly, in olden times in India, a leather bag known as a ‘Mashak’ was used to carry and deliver drinking water. The Bhishti, the person carrying the Mashak, used one opening to fill the bag and kept the other tightly closed. This leather bag was also referred to as ‘Nafaq’ in Arabic due to its two openings.
From this root, the term ‘Munafiq’ (hypocrite) derives its metaphorical meaning. A hypocrite is someone in whose heart faith does not remain—it escapes as soon as it enters, just like the two-way passage of Nafaq. Thus, ‘Nifaq’represents the state of hypocrisy, where faith fails to take root.
On the other hand, ‘Infaq’ refers to the movement of wealth: coming in and going out for a noble cause. A miser hoards wealth, allowing it to stagnate, whereas a generous person exemplifies ‘Infaq’ by freely spending for the benefit of others.
This linguistic interplay beautifully illustrates how two contrasting concepts—one praiseworthy and the other blameworthy—can emerge from a single root.
Many stories, often fabricated or lacking authenticity, have created an aura around ‘Aulia-ullah’ (Allah’s friends), attributing to them supernatural abilities that contradict the natural laws established by Allah. The Qur’an (10:62-64) proclaims ‘Aulia' as those who have faith and live in constant awareness, guarding themselves against disobedience. For such individuals, the Qur’an promises glad tidings in both this world and the Hereafter. Significantly, the Qur’an explicitly rejects popular misconceptions, affirming in verse 10:64 that Allah’s laws are immutable and will never change.
Life is full of trials and exams. Some give up midway, many barely pass, but a select few excel with distinction. I am confident that WORKers belong to this distinguished group. By the way, Today’s Friday sermon is titled: 'Yeh Naseeb Kya Kam Hai, Koi Azmata Hai.’
Sab’r is often understood as suppressing sorrow after a setback or refraining from reacting to aggression. However, in the Qur’an, such as in verses 3:146, it signifies facing challenges with courage and steadfastness. These are the people Allah loves & supports through His Law.
