Penning sheep tightly warms them up and makes them easier to shear. These merinos are getting ready to be shorn in a NZ wool shed. The shearers work fast to remove their fleece in one piece - which ends up on a skirting table to be sorted, graded and pressed into wool bales.

This is the undiscovered Balkans – #bosnia. Here the Nepalese shepherds bring sheep across the mountains for us to shear. These flock guardians live outdoors, walk miles each day, carry sick sheep - and have to fend off bears. We would never reach these sheep without them 🐑

Sometimes you have to shepherd sheep through small villages when the river is too high. Sheep can have astounding endurance when it comes to distance.
There are some great stories of #drovers who took sheep from the top of Scotland to #Devon and Wales - and everywhere in between.
