In 1988, the roof of Aloha Airlines flight 243 blew off mid-flight at an altitude of 24,000 ft. Despite the obvious complications, the pilot managed to safely land the plane after 13 minutes of terror was endured by the passengers.
All of the passengers survived, but unfortunately, when flight attendant Clarabelle Lansing was tending to passengers in the fifth row, she was sucked out of the plane. Her body was never recovered.
