@GraceAloneSaved @LauriesLitLines @5solas If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. (1 Corinthians 13:1, NASB95)
What does the apparent lack of fruit made evident by your words have to do with my emotions?
The Lord said by their fruit you will recognize them. I recognize your words but haven’t seen fruit. I hear only a clanging cymbal.
You are correct that God heals iniquities and that many iniquities grow willingly by holding onto sins. And you are right that depression is exasperated by vice. I agree healing only starts by a repentant heart and being born again in the Spirit. But even Paul lamented his continued tendency to sin (Romans 7).
Not all depression stems from sin and vice. It often comes from trauma, loss, or suffering. Did Job’s depression come from consequences of his own actions? How many Psalms were written by and for those in despair?
You come across as if God heals all iniquities immediately and fully, that having any remaining struggle is a sign of not being saved. The church is a hospital for those who are sick. It isn’t a health club for the pretend perfect.
Maybe instead of accusing brothers and sisters in a season of depression of not being saved, why not instead have compassion on them and offer prayers and encouragement?
@GraceAloneSaved@sola_chad im on no psych meds, for what its worth. but Jesus gave us a test for knowing who is born again: the fruit of the spirit.
where do you draw the line on believing the world? do you take any medication at all?
@FlookGary@MasterMaliq he did… @MasterMaliq whole game is to pretend ignorance and curiosity, but over time you see how he repeats himself. Like the Biblical Jesus: He keeps asking about him but never reads the Bible.
@GraceAloneSaved@sola_chad Jesus has saved me! I have been born again! That is my whole point. You assume you know, and you keep saying I need to be born again. But you never once asked if that is the case. Instead, you avoid engaging in the actual topic.
@GraceAloneSaved@sola_chad Here’s the thing: You never once asked whether I followed Christ, whether I live a life of repentance, or whether I personally suffered from depression. You assumed things and posted based on those assumptions.
@GraceAloneSaved@sola_chad I don’t recognize the fruit of the Spirit in anything you say. You are unkind, impatient, and quick to anger. You show no compassion for those whose iniquities and anguish are not yet healed.
May the Lord give you a new heart that loves as God loves.
@GraceAloneSaved@sola_chad so for you its either demonic or sinful vice? I suspect you have never suffered from depression, and I’m glad for you. Do you think maybe you might not really know and ought to instead err on the side of grace?
