@arrivaessex My child is on the number 2 bus from Asda Shoebury, due to depart at 8.01. This bus has been delayed and now diverted so she is late for school. There is no mention of the reason for this on your website. Please could you confirm the reason so I can inform her school
Let's imagine that we have 100% attendance. Every child is in school. The sick ones, the unhappy ones, the ones who have just lost their parent or grandparent. The ones who are only just four and can't quite manage a whole day yet without a nap. They're all in. 1/
Children and young people don't 'demand' special educational provision - they need it and are legally entitled to it. If local authorities spent less time trying to side-step the law and more time understanding local needs, everyone would benefit. https://t.co/sbef5rnqoW
Currently on my way to Manchester to start my postgraduate certificate in autism. Looking forward to meeting @SheffieldLuke and to three days of learning.
They will misunderstand distressed behaviour as deliberately disruptive. Teachers need urgent mandatory training on how to meet the needs of autistic children.
This is such an important report. I’ve seen firsthand the impact that having to attend a school that doesn’t meet their needs has had on the autistic children I love and it’s heartbreaking.
I’ve also been the secondary school teacher with no training at all on how to meet the needs of autistic pupils. The needs of autistic children can be varied and complex. Without training teachers won’t know what to look for in children who mask.
@British_Airways Please help. Flying tomorrow family of 5 including 2 autistic children. Booked seats when purchased tickets but checked in just now to find seats completely changed. This change to what we'd prepared the children for is going to cause severe distress
We're the first police force in the country to screen detainees in custody for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This shows we are leading the way in supporting vulnerable suspects who enter the criminal justice system in our custody https://t.co/Etotu4fOtu
@AutisticDoctor@shannonrosa @thinkingautism That was my experience too. Although the fact that we were meeting my youngest’s needs due to everything we’d learnt with his sister meant that professionals struggled to see that he was autistic. It frustrates me how many people think traumatised behaviour is autistic behaviour
Taking off the mask by @DrHannahBelcher is a really informative book about autistic masking, I'd recommend to all autistic people who are fed up with trying to fit in

Some thoughts on being fed up about being expected to feel grateful when people make reasonable adjustments for autistic people. https://t.co/PMchX93RnL
