Have you started to see candy-striped #spiders out & about? Please help us to learn more about these introduced predators in North America by joining the #SpiderHunters project!

@Cataranea@Ibycter Um… I have seen them in North Texas for 6 years. Had a VERY hard time identifying them 5 years ago and just called them “unknown” for one project. Thanks for the info- didn’t know they were introduced.
@JosephTLapp @rabidwalkspider It’s all about the question: You need the appropriate data to ask a specific question. If you can ask the question with the data, you can test it statistically. A p-value is the probability of 1 null hypothesis being true given the null distribution (usually random chance).
@JosephTLapp @rabidwalkspider If a trend is statistically unlikely “random” then it’s likely a variable is affecting the data: think age and height. Height ⬆️ with age to a certain point (humans). With a sample of humans across ages, the relationship & a p-value would indicate the relationship is non random.
Getting sampling in before #JASM22 next week. Come find us at wed night poster session at 5:30pm. Gill Stallings is talking about dragonfly production in stormwater ponds #ponds#aquaticinsects
I have a series on Instagram called “What’s on my patio? Wednesday”. This week I found a parasitoid bee fly (Bombyliidae anthrax). Should I start posting them to twitter as well? #whatsonmypatiowednesday#beefly#insects @smoorebugs https://t.co/jS7VX63jBo
Question for my spider people: How common/frequent is it for spiders that build webs to eat their old silk? I have only witnessed it myself once. #spiders#spiderweb#arachnology
