Just out @J_Cell_Sci! #S100 is a family of small #Ca2+ binding proteins with versatile roles. Our work, done at #NanoLSI, shows novel #S100A11 roles, revealing its involvement in mechanosensing & actomyosin driven #focal_adhesion disassembly.

It was an inspiring experience participating at the #MBSJ2025 presenting our latest #HS_AFM single-molecule findings. Scenic Yokohama’s waterfront was a few minutes’ walk from the conference venue.
Finally, there's a protein with a size of 3600 kDa. It's called titin. For comparison, large proteins such as myosin and talin have sizes 250 kDa and 270 kDa, respectively. Do you know a protein larger than titin? Hint: titin is the largest known protein!
It was insightful participating at the 52nd Naito conference on Frontiers of Physical and Mechanical Biology.
Earlier this year we published our work showing novel roles for the calcium binding protein #S100A11 in focal adhesion dynamics and mechanosensing.
Mosquitoes 🦟 cause even higher number of deaths at > 750,000 / year. Approaches called Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) were discussed as strategies to protect humans against mosquitoes.
The 12th Bio-SPM Summer School started today! This year, 29 participants from Japan and abroad are attending. We hope that all participants will have a fruitful time here!!

Congratulations to #BiniamGirmay and team @IntermarcheW. It's wonderful to see Bini protect the green jersey despite his crash and injuries on stage 16. What an incredible demonstration of consistency, determination, and resilience! #Cycling#Eritrea 🇪🇷

#IUPAB2024 D3 plenary lecture by Prof. Toshio Ando showcased the unique capacity of #hs_afm to capture real-time imaging of biomolecule structures and dynamics with up to 10 ms/frame speed and nanoscale resolution.
Our recent article in the Journal of Cell Science was one of January's most-read! 📈📚 Plus, a tree was planted for it in the Forest of Biologists! 🌲🌿Thanks to everyone who supported our work!
