I'm sitting here in tears with how disgusted I am with the Duffer brothers. This show has been my comfort show for nine years, and they managed to ruin it in 2 1/2 hours.

When i was 14, i was head over heels for my best friend. She turned out to be straight, and thats okay, but i know exactly how someone you love not loving you back can feel. for me, it felt like i was being ripped from the inside out everytime when i finally realized it was never going to happen. it hurts, and its a kind of pain i really cant describe unless you personally have been through it.

Will byers feelings for mike should've been wrapped up in season 4, and he should've been given a different love interest. He should've had his own love story with a boy who could love him through and through. but, instead, they had to drag out his feelings for mike, keep mileven ambigious (which caused lots of debates between bylers and milevens which only caused more homophobia.) and then set him up for that humiliation ritual of a coming out scene.

it was so bad infact, that my friends and i came up with a whole theory that went viral for why it was so bad. it was so bad, i was convinced with 100% certainty that we were being vecna'd. so now, reading from the duffer brothers that a romance for mike and will was NEVER in the cards makes me sick. they should have shut it down in interviews years ago. and milevens, please dont say "your ship is bones!" because im upset for you guys too.

jane hopper, the abused girl with a boyfriend who couldnt even say he loves her. even in her final moments, he couldn't say it. they made jane and mike's relationship so bleak and ambigious and lead bylers on. we both deserved better. will byers deserved better, and jane hopper especially deserved better.

I named this account after jane, she's my favorite character, my comfort character, and the duffers sent the message that 1) she has to die to stop a cycle of abuse she has no part in or 2) the only way she can live is be stripped away from the people she loves. from her brothers, from her father, from her friends.

i cannot believe that they put both jane and will through the worlds worst humiliation ritual. a boyfriend not being able to tell his girlfriend he loved her is NOT a trope. she had to beg him to say it.

Will byers is the only main character in stranger things with no romance. and please, the epilogue boy friend doesn't count. it might not even be real, since it was mike telling the story. minor characters like mr clarke got love interests. but will? will doesn't get to find true love. he has to settle with acceptance of himself because its "realistic". i thought stranger things was supposed to be a show about freaks and outcasts? well, your two MC's are exactly that, and you nerfed them. Jane is dead, and Will doesn't get the boy he's loved since he was in middle school.

Will could've had his acceptance arc without being in love with mike. mike didn't need to be apart of the story, but he was.

Im even sorry for mike wheeler. his characger truly turned out to be... bleak, to say the least. "its not my fault you don't like girls" hits so much harder now knowing theres no pay off. the duffers really just wrote him to be mean to his girlfriend and best friend, and then have no emotional pay off.

play gate will live on in my volume 2&3 re write, and jane and will are going to get their happy endings. duffers, fuck you. from the deepest parts of my soul, fuck you. and to any young queer kids out there, or any queer people my age, i'm truly sorry that we're once again the butt of the joke. i can't believe that we're living in a timeline where disney channel handled a queer love story better than stranger things.

here's to hoping to the future. and duffers? never write again.
