Yes ALL Americans arguably have privilege by living in the imperial core. Its why people move there for a “better life” despite the USA being behind their countries destruction.. but why the hyperfixation on one specific ethnic group that didn’t have a choice?
I hope younger women know that when an older woman says to you, “your standards are too high, you’ll never find a man who meets them” it isn’t really about you, they’re just thinking about all the things they’ve had to settle for
People that are Black citizens of America are Black Americans. *African American* is the ethnicity. Black is racial. American is citizenship. African American is a person of African descent whose ancestors were brought to America from Africa during the TransAtlantic Slave Trade.
I’ve had Caribbean & African friends who were still covert xenophobes towards BAs. I’ve also experienced xenophobia irl as well as others. This is not “only online” & dismissing it as only online because you have non BA friends doesn’t work.
It’s giving “I have Black friends”.
@midzy_you it’s ok i think people are just confused cause compared to other american continents, there really is no term to distinguish between african descendants of slavery vs recent african immigrants
never thanks ! 😊 i know there’s no separation like the term afro colonial / afro antillano in spanish for afro latinos in panama but AAs are specially african descendants of slavery. Black America incorporates us all !
