Major importers include the U.S., U.K., Germany, Japan, and Eastern Europe, notably Poland and Russia, which are growing markets.

Nigeria exports raw Shea butter, which attracts insignificant value for the product

The Shea tree takes 11-15 years to bear fruit but can be productive for over 200 years.

Niger, Kwara, Kebbi, Nasarawa and Kogi States are the major producers.
