3. In 1994, photojournalist Sebastiao Salgado left the horrors of Rwanda and returned to his home in Minas Gerais, Brazil, seeking peace in the lush green forests of his childhood.
Instead, he discovered that his home had turned into a barren land devoid of any wildlife: "The land was as sick as I was. Only about 0.5% was covered in trees".
It was then that his wife, Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado, suggested they replant the entire forest. Sebastião agreed, and together they spent the next 20 years planting 2.7 million trees.
This resulted in the recovery of 1,500 acres of rainforest, and the site eventually became home to 293 plant species, 172 bird species, and 33 animal species, some of which were on the verge of extinction.
The US banned Hawaiian language, overthrew our country, let us die in Maui fires, devastated our universal healthcare, & illegally occupies Hawaii to this day. My mother's hands were broken for speaking Hawaiian in school. The US is not a beacon, but the destroyer of independence
Men: we can't wait for sex robots so we can be as brutal as we want & never have to talk to women
Women: 🤷♀️
Women: I fear a bear less than I do men
Men: 🤬🤬🤬
Men stay with women they hate for the same reason they married a woman they hated in the first place. Because they’re lazy and the benefits of having someone take care of your children, your meals, your home, and your calendar for free greatly outweigh the costs of not liking her, especially when you have been quiet quitting the marriage since day 1 and put in minimal effort in return
