Telling children who love graphic novels that "graphic novels do not help you grow as a reader," is not true and diminishes the children right along with the books. Reading doesn't belong to school. It belongs to readers. Value them!
Based on my social media feeds and in person conversations this week, maybe we dial back our obsession with reading/math scores a bit and push a little more civics, government, and history knowledge into schools.
We just showed the world we reject Trumpism. We reject fascism. We reject racism. We embrace science. We embrace justice. We embrace unity. We embrace freedom for ALL PEOPLE.
Dear National School Leaders,
Please waive state testing for the entire nation. This is on the minds of all educators. Our country is vulnerable, particularly our educators and students. I implore you, take this burden from us.
