🇵🇱 🇺🇦 Poland says it thwarted a direct threat to one of its border crossings with Ukraine overnight, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk is warning that more may be coming: "Last night, thanks to cooperation between our services and their Ukrainian counterparts, a direct threat to one of the border crossings was averted," Tusk said.

He revealed another intriguing detail: Poland has received what he described as a "fairly precise" CIA assessment of possible events in the coming months, which he says aligns with warnings Warsaw has been issuing for some time.

Tusk now expects Russia to target Poland's crossings with Ukraine as part of a broader effort to disrupt the trade and logistics routes sustaining the Ukrainian economy.

The warning comes just one day after Russian drones struck the Starokozache crossing on the Ukraine-Moldova border, killing two people.

The pattern is widening: Ukrainian border guards say Russia has struck five border crossings in recent weeks, four along the Moldovan border and one with Romania.

With Ukraine increasingly dependent on overland trade as its Black Sea infrastructure comes under attack, the border crossings themselves are becoming strategic targets.

Tusk's warning goes further: Poland believes that pressure may increasingly reach NATO's side of the frontier.

Russia killed at least 5 people and wounded 67 in Pavlohrad today, striking civilians near shopping malls with drones in broad daylight. This is deliberate terror against civilians.

Russia is systematically attacking places where it knows people will be spending their time going about their daily lives, seeking to maximise casualties, spread fear, and put pressure on Ukrainian society.

Air raid alerts across Ukraine continue without respite, and Russia keeps launching more and more drones, sometimes directly from production facilities. Moscow continues doing this because it still has the missiles, drones, components, money, and sense of impunity to do so.

This is a tactic of coercion. Russia believes that relentless attacks on civilians can exhaust Ukrainians and force Ukraine into concessions.

Ukraine needs additional air defence systems and interceptors now. Sanctions must hit Russia’s weapons production and the supply chains that keep it running. Russian revenues financing this terror must be cut.

Today Ukraine’s air raid siren should sound louder than ever in every partner capital. There is no time for another round of concern and deliberation. The weapons capable of stopping this terror exist, as do the decisions capable of exhausting Russia’s war machine. We need both now.

Russia must not be rewarded for trying to coerce Ukraine through the killing of civilians. It must lose the means to continue doing it.

NATO foiled a Russian operation targeting undersea cables near Svalbard

According to Reuters, Russian submarines were practicing how to destroy undersea cables using a new secret weapon that leaves almost no trace.

The UK, Norway and the US were monitoring the submarines. NATO detected them and disrupted the operation, after which the Russian vessels left the area. The cables were not damaged.

Western countries fear Russia may be preparing for potential sabotage against NATO infrastructure.

Allies tracked the submarines and deep-sea vehicles, stopped the exercise before any cables were damaged, and confronted Moscow with the findings. The operation targeted two 1,400 km fibre-optic links to mainland Norway, which run as deep as 2,700 metres and carry data from SvalSat, the world’s largest satellite ground station and part of NASA’s Near Space Network. Norwegian Defence Minister Tore Sandvik said the joint action showed Russia that covert attacks on critical infrastructure would be detected and met with consequences.
