No one expects a musician to solve Nigeriaโs problems, but people expect those with influence to show concern, compassion, and courage. Many fans looked up to you as someone who understood the struggles of Nigerians. That is why this silence has been difficult for many to accept.
The same Nigerians who stream your music, attend your shows, and celebrate your success are the ones living with this fear and uncertainty. Yet while many voices are calling for change, your silence has been impossible to ignore.
Every day, innocent Nigerians are kidnapped, killed, and forced to live in fear. Families are losing loved ones, communities are being destroyed, and many expected influential figures like you to speak up and stand with the people who supported your journey.
Will there simply be more songs released after the tragedy while nothing is said when it matters most? Nigerians need voices that speak up before the damage is done, not only entertainment after the fact.
To Olamide,
I have always seen you as a voice of the people, someone who rose from the streets and inspired millions of Nigerians. That is why your silence on the growing insecurity in our country has been disappointing to many of us.
