🚨 🚨🚨WARNING!!!
▪︎ A CTV News W5 investigation (published around May 19-20, 2026) exposed an alleged luggage tag switching scheme at an airport, where corrupt baggage handlers or ramp workers allegedly swap passengers' official airline baggage tags onto drug-filled suitcases.
📍HOW THE SCHEME ALLEGEDLY WORKS
▪︎ You check in your bag normally and get a standard airline tag with your name, flight details, and destination.
▪︎ In the restricted baggage handling area (behind security, with blind spots), a worker peels off or snips your tag.
▪︎ They attach it to a different suitcase packed with narcotics (e.g., methamphetamine, cocaine).
▪︎ The drug bag flies under your name to the destination.
▪︎ Your actual bag often gets a "rush" tag (for delayed/mishandled luggage) or is handled separately so it still reaches you.
▪︎ At arrival, if customs or authorities intercept the drug suitcase, you're the one linked to it because of the tag.
📍This has reportedly affected at least 17 innocent passengers on flights from Canada over the past year (16 linked to Pearson).
▪︎ Destinations included the Dominican Republic, Paris, Germany, Morocco, Bermuda, the Philippines, and South Korea, some of which are countries with harsh penalties, including the death penalty for drug trafficking.
▪︎ Victims have faced detention, arrest, interrogation, and jail time abroad before being cleared.
📍Examples:
▪︎ A Toronto woman (paramedic) detained for hours in Vancouver over a meth-filled bag.
▪︎ Couples jailed for days/weeks in the Dominican Republic.
At least six baggage/ramp workers at Pearson in connection with these cases have been arrested.
📍Safety Tips from Reports and Travelers
▪︎ Photograph/video your bag (including the tag with barcode) right after check-in.
▪︎ Double-check that the tag is securely attached before it goes on the belt.
▪︎ Keep your baggage receipt.
▪︎ Use an AirTag or similar tracker inside your bag.
▪︎ Make your suitcase distinctive (colors, ribbons, unique markings) to spot swaps easier.
▪︎ Consider luggage insurance or avoiding checking bags when possible

Out of 10 richest pastors in the world, 5 of them are Nigerians. But out of 10 richest churches in the world none is Nigerian”

My attention has been drawn to a typo error on the cell phone number of the PPRO Edo earlier published. This has been corrected. Take note of the correct digit. Thanks.
