My sadness re. Sabina matched only by rage at the inevitable 'safety tips'; "well lit areas!" "no headphones" "be on phone for backup!" "don't be on phone, stay vigilant!". The Met one literally says "stay assertive". THESE THINGS ARE IN OUR BONES FROM DAY 1. WE ARE NOT THE ISSUE
“When we scan a person with back pain statistically we are increasing the risk of them having a poor outcome”
Just read that again
Prof. Cormac Ryan hitting home the importance of judicious use of scans & importance of contextualizing their outcomes 🤯🤯🤯

Imagine being a sports masseuse and thinking it’s acceptable to tell your clients you can FEEL the discs in their spine are thinner than they should be with no concerns about what impact that could have on someone’s life. In for a long week.... 🙂🙃
I’m all for rehab to be tough, hard and painful at times! But I just don’t understand the clinical reasoning of why any therapist would want to cause such unnecessary pain with treatments that lack any robust evidence to support there use! 🤦♂️
I feel like if you’re surprised that an elite level sportsperson loves a bit of quackery with their rehab and is certain that whatever random collection of BS they happen to do ‘works’ because... medals, then you’ve maybe not been paying attention before 🤷♂️
Is there a bigger scam than 'maintenance physio'? But also can't help but admire the balls of whoever first convinced a fellow human that in order to be healthy they need to come and see them every couple of months and have an elbow pressed in their arse, for money no less...
Thanks both @martinthomas11@function2fitnes
Great talks this evening; very useful clinical tips 👍

Just fucking ridiculous... NHS England and the Tory government are playing on the goodwill of some of the most selfless people in the country who WILL put themselves in harms way to help others!!! This is criminal to put people into these situations! Shame on you!
The Government issued an update to its list of businesses that should close. Physiotherapy clinics were included explicitly as an exception to this list.
This does not change our advice about the provision of face-to-face consultations, find this at: https://t.co/wxjprkohY4
https://t.co/kGPzC5s6Bg Protecting the NHS frontline staff in turn protects you and your loved ones! Stop staff making the difficult choice but to risk coming into work and infecting others or being at home unnecessarily in isolation when the NHS needs them 🏥🏥🏥
It amazes me how something that is so commonly believed in and taught ('avoid lifting with a flexed back to reduce risk of back pain') has NO in-vivo evidence behind it - yet people still argue aggressively to support it and bag out the evidence that questions it ......WHY?
