Be aware of Turkey in Iran.
Turkey will pose the most danger to Iran’s sovereignty once the Islamic regime is eliminated, not the Kurds.
Turkey is playing it safe right now to save face in case the mullahs survive this, so they don’t have “repair” diplomatic relations like the rest of the region. They’re sharing intelligence with the mullahs, keeping communication lines open, and are fully coordinating on border activities between the two countries.
If the regime remains, Turkey will continue business as usual.
If the regime falls, Turks will make sure to immediately send its troops across the border, set up “security zones”, empower the Azeri population in the north, all with a goal of squashing Kurdish attempts of autonomy.
Turkey is opportunistic and will land grab when it gets a chance. Turkey will also see this as a way to control Israeli influence in a new Iran.
@TRobinsonNewEra Incorrect. These are Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan in the city of Sine. The Kurds were the ones who stood up ferociously against the regime from the very beginning. And they got the harshest consequences. May they now separate from Iran and self govern.
The Kurds survived the Shah, Saddam, Khomeini, Assad and Khamenei—all tried but failed miserably to ethnically cleanse the Kurdish people.
Take notes, Kurds are here to stay.
@TRobinsonNewEra False. Thats Kurds in Sine. The Kurds are the ones who stood against the Islamic regime from the very beginning whilst the Persians fought for it. The Kurds also faced the heaviest consequences.
Rep. Marlin Stutzman says videos of abuses by elements within the Syrian government including the execution of a wounded woman “have to” change thinking in Washington. “Anyone who values life should be moved by that,” @RepStutzman told me- @RudawEnglish , urging a government in Syria that protects all sides and “values life.”
@derspiegel
When we needed the #Kurds, they were there for us.
They took on Islamic State in Iraq & Syria (aka ISIS). They delivered.
They took on Iraq's Saddam Hussein. They delivered.
But now, again, we're abandoning them.
And, again, they're being targeted by #Syria, #Turkey...
SHAME
“Em hemî Pêşmerge ne, YPG û YPJ ne.”
“We are all Peshmerga, YPG and YPJ.”
From Rojava to Başûr, Rojhilat to Bakur — Kurds are not divided by borders. Syrian, Iraqi, Turkish, Iranian… we are one people, one struggle, one Kurdistan.
