@hookskat Your statement has far more predictive validity than assuming every person understands what they truly believe and why they believe it.
Your claim is sometimes true. The other one is never true.
@DreAllDay I think the speculations you make here are reasonable/probable. There a a few balanced perspectives amongst all the emotional noise around this case and this is one.
I do believe race played a role, however this particular kind of power struggle isn’t isolated to only one race. Many young men are capable of this crap and not all of them are a lost cause. Anthony is guilty because he escalated with a weapon and the other guy is dead. He should be convicted, but I hope he finds redemption in life.
I was in a situation when I was 16 years old, in which I intended to make the same mistake Anthony did. The only reason I didn’t end up guilty of assault with a deadly weapon is that circumstances saved me from my own stupidity.
I’m white.
Are any Anthony supporters willing to explicitly admit that he is technically guilty according to the law but they hope for an acquittal anyway as a means of payback they can gloat about in order to satisfy their resentment over racism?
Plenty of people like this are implying it.
@Raskolnikovpx4@MissInfoShow__ So you seem hyper focused on his initial motive for being there. It’s certainly relevant but not my primary concern. This may be true:
I’m interested is understanding psychological motivations. Human nature is interesting to me as a topic to examine. I’m not philosophizing over how a mature psyche should react. I’m analyzing and projecting how we actually are throughout human development.
Teenagers in school are typically insecure over their place within the hierarchy. They are competing with one another for status and approval. One encroaches on another’s space. A confrontation ensues and their peers are watching intently to see who backs down.
Do you actually believe your own statement that the one who loses that power struggle in that context isn’t going to experience humiliation?
I’m analyzing human behavior. I’m not justifying, condoning, or defending. My judgment is that Anthony is guilty of murder and should be convicted.

@naturalslf@motylewski62482@MissInfoShow__ Both of you either can’t see your bias or you don’t care. Switch the ethnicity between Metcalf and Anthony… Be brutally honest with yourself. Does your perspective of this case change.

@Shannon4America Cain’s countenance fell and he became murderously enraged at his brother when their sacrifices produced unequal outcomes.
Able probably could have helped himself and Cain by not being a sanctimonious prick as well.
Nothing new under the sun.
@granitellama@mitchellvii Im prepared to live with the consequences of bad parenting more than I’m willing to live with the consequences of school officials attempting to correct bad parenting by using deliberately excessive force punitively.
