After a long, stable period under the leadership of William Clouston the party witnessed great success with its growth in membership and saw the revival of a party that many thought was long lost.

The party now sits at a critical juncture with Wiliam's departure – we need a leader who can continue to grow the party and isn’t afraid to make the changes necessary to do it.

Throughout my time working in the SDP, I have met many fellow social democrats and have come to the conclusion that you and I are in the SDP for the same reason – Britain is being failed by our establishment parties and the result is a country that is (among many other things) facing hardship from extortionate energy prices, failing industry and mass migration.

The SDP needs a leader who recognises that the SDP succeeding is paramount for Britain’s future. We need a leader who is not afraid to make the changes needed to see this party excel – I’m ready to be the one to do that.

It is incredibly depressing when our own government acts against our national interests over and over again.

So much so that we keep having to run to the Americans, who already hold so much sway over us in all the ways that matter.

Vile and barbaric scenes in Belfast last night. A man is now fighting for his life and ordinary members of the public had to step in and risk their own safety to save him.

This keeps happening, and every time it does, we're told to stay calm, move on, "don't look back in anger". People are sick of hearing it, I know I am.

We just want to be safe on our own streets, but our political class would rather manage the debate than actually protect us.

Young people are already struggling with finding work as the job market continues to plummet.

Out of everything wrong with the country, I don't think that people earning £10 an hour are the problem.

Targeting young workers trying to get a start on life isn't the way forward.

What this effectively means is that he's capitulating to the large pharmaceutical companies. Instead of strengthening the NHS' position, he's undermining it.

The only people who will bear the brunt of this cost will be the taxpayer.

The India trade deal seemingly has the same thrust as the U.K.-EU youth visa deal.

Both would serve to put downward pressure on U.K. wages. Indian workers will be cheaper via no NI contributions, for 3 years, while EU countries can export their youth unemployment issues here.
