Chemical engineering senior lecturer at Newcastle University specialising in powders: flow, mixing, breakage and computational modelling. Views my own. He/him
I have a fantastic industrially-driven PhD opportunity available, : https://t.co/PyfSsHM0wn
Important notes:
- International fees will be covered! 💰
- A 3-month placement at GSK will be offered 🏭
- The application deadline is 7th July 🏃♀️
Please share widely, thanks!
From her PhD, @domenicabraile measured sintering dynamics of chocolate spheres, observing bridge growth and temperature evolution:
https://t.co/wDASL3xGka
A semi-empirical model including temperature dependent viscosity was developed to describe the experimental trends.
Group publications this month:
@MarvKhala developed a regime map for dry powder coating : https://t.co/vCMzD92mPg
Once the host and guest powders are characterised, the map allows the user to determine the mixing energy required to maximise surface area coverage.
From his PhD, Francisco used FEM to analyse heat generation by plastic deformation during normal impact, examining the temperature profiles: https://t.co/HszSRfcCX8
The FEM model predictions agree well with theoretical models, and temperature rise is driven by thermal inertia.
I was one of ~500 recipients on an email on Friday asking for a reply.
So far only 7 responses, 2 of which were people asking everyone not to reply all🤷♂️
A new postdoc position opening in my group @SCCESurrey, as part of Horizon Europe consortium OPERA @HorizonEU @cleanenergy_eu to work on mesoscale materials modelling and machine learning methods for solid-state batteries. Open to all nationalities. https://t.co/FHtRFepyVa
I've received reviewers' comments on my fellowship proposal🙂, which was submitted 9 months ago☹️
The comments are okay. Note stellar, but still in the mix. Lots to discuss in my 2-page response though🫤
I have until 28th July to respond😀
I'm on leave from 20th-31st July☹️
Job alert: I’m hiring two postdocs! The first is a 24 month position looking at the first anatomical radiation of ray-finned fishes during the mid-late Palaeozoic; the second is a 33 month position looking at macroevolutionary trends in ray-finned fishes during the Palaeozoic 🐟
