This footage is going to become a big headache for the police.

A police officer appears to pretend he has been hit by a car.

Seconds later, the elderly man behind the wheel is dragged out of the vehicle and thrown to the ground.

How are the public supposed to trust the police to enforce the law when incidents like this happen?

This needs investigating properly, and if the footage is as it appears, there must be accountability for every officer involved.

That’s some heroic statistical cherry-picking from the Home Office.

“Average arrivals on days with favourable crossing conditions” is not the same thing as saying small-boat crossings overall are down 38%. It’s a hand-picked denominator designed to produce a flattering headline.

Tell us the figures people actually care about: total arrivals this year, total crossings, removals, asylum decisions, hotel costs and how many people are still waiting in the system.

If your record is genuinely good, you shouldn’t need to bury it inside a weather-adjusted statistic!
