He had ₹10 crore.
Instead of buying a house in full cash, he did something smart.
• Invested ₹8 crore in mutual funds (~12% CAGR)
• Used ₹2 crore as down payment
• Took ₹8 crore home loan @ 8.5%
• EMI ≈ ₹7,00,000/month
Then he started an SWP of ₹7,00,000 from mutual funds.
For 20 years → SWP paid every EMI.
After 20 years:
• House fully owned
• Mutual fund still worth ₹10.5 crore
Moral:
Don’t just buy assets.
Let your assets pay for your assets.
The perfect video to view on Holi…
Because the colours of India spring up in many different ways & surprise us.
Chillis laid out for drying create an amazingly beautiful tapestry when seen from above.
This is Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh which alone has a share of 15% in India’s chilli production.
Can, & should AP turn this seasonal crop into a tourist attraction?
It’s a winter harvest so the timing is right.
I’ve never been, but I suspect the problem is that the beauty of the patterns may not be visible at ground level.
Balloon rides?
Curate performances of local music and dance at that time & create a festival?
Other ideas?
I know many will feel that it should be left free of potentially disruptive tourists. But that overlooks the opportunity for the local farmers and communities to supplement their incomes.

The Indian Banking Sector’s Decades-Old Exploitation of the Common Man – Finally Exposed & Hit Hard
For years, India’s banks have run a sophisticated wealth-destruction machine disguised as “cross-selling”.
You walk into a branch for something as simple and safe as a fixed deposit – the one place a middle-class family trusts with its life savings – and you walk out with a toxic, high-commission, illiquid Unit-Linked Insurance Plan (ULIP).
Countless ordinary Indians – salaried employees, retirees, small traders, first-generation savers – have lived this exact nightmare. Bank staff, under ruthless quarterly targets, turned into glorified insurance agents.
They weaponised the one thing we still gave them: our blind trust in the “bank”.
A signature on a form became a licence to loot.
Non-interest fee income soared while the common man’s hard-earned money vanished into opaque, unsuitable products that no one understood.
Mis-selling wasn’t an accident; it was the business model.
Then one man refused to stay silent.
CA Kanan Bahl – the FINfluencer who became the voice of every victim – single-handedly dragged this systemic rot into the daylight.
His hard-hitting documentary MIS-SOLD exposed exactly how banks exploited the vulnerable.
He didn’t stop at posting reels; he took the film to premieres across cities and colleges, building real public anger and cultural momentum.
The voice finally became too loud to ignore.
A few days ago, the RBI dropped a nuclear bomb on the entire bancassurance playbook (February 2026 draft norms):
✅ 100% refund + compensation if mis-selling is proven – the victim is no longer the loser
✅ Suitability over signatures – “you signed it” no longer protects the bank
✅ Complete ban on kickbacks & incentives from insurers to bankers
✅ No more forced bundling – loans cannot be held hostage to sell insurance
The old playbook is dead.
Life insurers are already in panic mode, rushing into NBFC partnerships (HDFC Life–Muthoot Finance being the latest big one) to survive the blow.
This is what one determined, vocal citizen can achieve.
The banking sector exploited the trust of the common man for decades.
Kanan Bahl proved that one loud, truthful voice is enough to make regulators wake up and act.
Now imagine what thousands of such patriots could do.
India desperately needs more Kanan Bahls.
The common man finally has a fighting chance.
Let’s make sure he never loses it again.

I’m fascinated by Dr. Shubha V. Iyengar because she literally helps planes land through fog while most of us are learning to move through metaphorical fog.
Topper in BSc & MSc, backed by parents who encouraged her interest in science when girls rarely were inspired to pursue it.
40+ years at CSIR–NAL & she led the team that developed Drishti, built for India’s fog, rain, dust, and uncertainty.
When the world feels unclear, remember: someone built systems so others could land safely.

Chennai recently cleared the Perungudi dumpyard using bio mining tech from @BluePlanet_Env
If 50 years of garbage can be reinvented, then there’s hope for India’s waste problem and room for many more such growth stories…

On this day in 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose hoisted the Tricolour at Port Blair, declaring Indian soil free from British rule 🇮🇳
A moment of unmatched courage and defiance, it stands as a powerful reminder of Netaji’s indomitable spirit and commitment to India’s freedom.
