A female doctor was attacked with acid at Civil Hospital Quetta.

Live update from ER: Dr Mahnoor has been assessed by doctors along with the AKUH team. Alhamdulillah, she is stable with no life- or organ-threatening signs. She has 13% burns, including 7–8% deep patches, and moderate corneal opacity in both eyes with vision intact.

She will be managed at AKUH.

Tomorrow, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and all health workers must stand together in a peaceful protest from Civil Hospital Quetta to Press Club at 11 AM.

An attack on one doctor is an attack on every healer.

Alarming findings from Tabba Heart Institute’s National ACS data

Nearly 1 in every 13 heart attack patients in Pakistan is aged 40 or younger. Even more concerning, 2% are 30 or younger.

In Karachi alone, an estimated 103 heart attacks occur every day, including around 10 in people under 40.

Before blaming “doctors,” answer just one basic question:

In any government OPD, if one doctor steps out for tea/lunch/emergency/ward call, does the entire department stop functioning? Obviously not.

There are usually multiple doctors, trainees, nurses, technicians and OPD staff. Patients are not seen by one person sitting in one chair for the whole day.

Also, an eye checkup is not just “look and leave.” It can involve registration, queue, vision testing, refraction, dilation, waiting for drops to work, and then review. A 3–4 hour wait in a crowded govt hospital usually reflects patient load + poor system capacity + staff shortage, not necessarily “doctor drama.”

The real question is:
Why are govt hospitals overloaded?
Why are OPDs understaffed?
Why is one doctor expected to handle hundreds of patients daily?

But of course, it’s easier to make a viral story blaming doctors than to talk about the broken healthcare system.

Criticize negligence when proven.
But don’t convert every waiting time into anti-doctor propaganda.
