Former Candidate for NYS Assembly (70) | Born & Raised in Harlem | Advocate for Seniors; Mental Health; Small Businesses & Housing the Homeless | #UnionStrong
Harlem showed up.
Honored to stand on stage alongside NYC Mayor Zohan Kwame Mamdani as we closed out D9 Harlem Votes™ “Come See About Us!” Town Hall.
Community, accountability, and action in motion.
We’re building a budget for 8.5 million New Yorkers — and that means every community has a seat at the table, especially those too often shut out of it.
Yesterday, D9 Harlem Votes brought me to the Schomburg Center, where we spoke about what racial equity and economic justice mean in practice: real investments in housing, dignified jobs, true public safety, and a city government that reflects the people it serves.
We did it — I'm officially on the ballot for NYC Council District 14!
Thank you to every volunteer, supporter, & neighbor who believes in our mission to:
👉🏽 Lower Rent
👉🏽 Lower Gun Violence
👉🏽 Lower Grocery Prices
Vote on June 24th b/c it's time #SolutionsOverSlogans

At the #HarlemFreedomRally, Harlem Community Leader @Harmongoff4NY spoke powerfully of Mayor Eric Adams actions of turning his back on our immigrant neighbors & of our true duty to our NYC immigrant neighbors as a sanctuary city & as a people & community who chooses ❤️ over hate!
These are actresses from the 1950s. Hollywood started to adapt to the changing times and social narratives, and Black actors were earning better roles than the stereotypical ones that plagued them in previous decades.

Just finished casting my vote. For years, it was a tradition I shared with my dad, and today, his spirit was right there with me. Voting isn’t just a duty—it’s a way to honor those we love and fight for a future they’d be proud of. Let’s make our voices heard today! #Election2024

It’s time for me & my dad’s Annual Coat Drive! Honoring his legacy, the Douglas’ Warmth Legacy Coat Drive collects new & gently used coats all November. Proud to team up again with @SCStateNYAlumni to support churches, nonprofits & neighbors in need this winter!
Earlier today, I walked with my DC9 union family in the fight against breast cancer. We stood strong for survivors, honored those we’ve lost, and took steps toward a future free from this disease. Every step brought us closer to hope and a cure. 💕
Honored to have been a guest speaker at the 74th Northeast Sectional Conference of the National Association of University Women (NAUW), where I joined my fellow members, their family and friends in addressing important issues and celebrating the power of education and advocacy.💚
Had a great CB10 Senior Task Force meeting at Canaan Senior Citizens Center! Love how we’re involving local seniors at senior centers to learn more about the community board and its committees. #ILoveSeniors#HonoraryJuniorSenior
