Would you send a founder your résumé or ask them for one small engineering problem to solve? I prefer the second. But asking someone to invent a task for you is also work for them. What makes that offer actually useful?
If you need client work to keep building your product, do you take whatever pays or only projects that push the product forward? The second sounds sensible until there’s nothing suitable available.
@abhijitwt How did you set this up? I’m curious what runs the agent, how it keeps track of what it learns about you, and whether you built it yourself or on top of an existing tool. i'm rn building something similar.
Is there an IDE that works well for both agents and humans? I mainly use Herdr, but I still want to browse the codebase sometimes.
Right now I use Cursor for that without using its agent. What else could I try?
To become a better engineer:
- Have a strong command over your language.
- Understand design patterns by reading more code.
- Be comfortable with software architecture.
- Understand how things work internally, not just how to use them.
And you are good to go.
Today’s goals:
• Learn logistic regression and complete 2 other ML experiments for exm
• Improve Notice AI and use it in my workflow
• Plan how Twin (another project )handles user context and sessions
• Read and journal
• Eat 5 eggs and have a protein shake
As an entrepreneur nothing hits quite like opening the dashboard and seeing that little day over day spike in usage.
Not the big launch days. Just the quiet mornings where activity is up again. One more person used it. The line moved.
I love software engineering. I love building for people and solving their problems. Those small spikes are the quiet proof that the work is landing. The kind of thing you only notice when you keep showing up.
Wanted a song’s instrumental as my ringtone. I used to hunt on YouTube and hope someone had uploaded a version without vocals.
Now I just give my AI agent the song and ask it to remove the vocals. Done.
Tiny thing, but there are so many everyday tasks like this.
Genuine question: what’s YC’s thesis behind backing Herdr? It’s an open-source agent runtime, and I couldn’t find a hosted offering or an obvious revenue model. Is the bet on developer adoption first, monetization later?
@opencode Could we get an option to undo a question right after submitting it, like we can undo a message? That would be really helpful when I spot a mistake just after submitting.
