What a fantastic two days with poet Matt Abbot. Matt ignited the imaginations our KS3 would be poets and broke down the barriers and preconceptions surrounding poetry. Students created some remarkable work, thanks to his easy and encouraging manner. Thank you @mattabbottpoet 👏

Today’s book club has really ticked the Making Memories box. We had a picnic in our fab outdoor space & created bunting based on our chosen book - The Goldfish Boy. The group have been an absolute delight all term and we are so looking forward to HT6.

Against the backdrop of online misinformation and negative influence, books can help teen boys build important emotional literacy and empathy skills. Here a just few that feature positive male characters or those which challenge traditional notions of masculinity.

Our Blackout Poetry section is gaining momentum. By erasing certain words, students are encouraged to create interesting and thought provoking poems and develop new meaning to texts. We love this one! @HarperGreen @harper_english

At our Secret Story Readers Book Club we focussed on the topic of OCD in The Goldfish Boy and we discussed what OCD is and how it affects all kinds of people. We each wrote a supportive postcard to the main character Matthew. On now to the next 7 chapters. @HarperGreen
