@MichaelRosenYes It is not the same! The govt can borrow much more vs expected taxation/income. But the % is variable dependent on market view of the UK. While we people can borrow a percentage of our known income. Try MSE for explainers better than me.

@POLITICOEurope @EUErasmusPlus the shame of the UK is to give up on its youth. This old value for money assessment was rubbish. Why? We should be encouraging students including STEM to study foreign languages. Any anyway several EU universities offer subjects in the English language.

@RichardJMurphy I’m also worried that there must have been more victims. Those that decided to quit or retire because they could not reconcile the system data, the lack of clarity & the exposure to a system set against them. Most post office masters are very decent people, mustve hated working

@RichardJMurphy I’m confused- accounting isn’t simple but somewhere people and/or the company got money from the postmasters that were purportedly stealing the money. Somebody benefited. Either with actual money or at the entity level that it had lost profits that it could reduce taxes due.
