8th gr math tchr. Always looking for good ideas in math ed to promote high-order thinking & student confidence. See the math, own the math, understand the math.
For at least 25 years, The Fonz @hwinkler4real has been looking over my shoulder in my classrooms. After 32 years of teaching in public schools, I've closed my textbook and put away my chalk. Thanks Fonzie for looking over my students and me.
@fawnpnguyen In my hometown (rural/ag-based) 8th gr graduation was a thing, because that's when compulsory ed ends & many old farmers didn't go to HS because they had to work on the farm.
North Scott truly lost a legend today with the passing of Randy (R.D) Denner. Former coach, teacher and Hall of Fame, RD was the longtime "Voice of the Lancers," and the originator of the L-A-N-C-E-R cheer. A true Lancer, through and through. May he rest in peace.
@robertkaplinsky@joboaler@ddmeyer ...3 of my 4 "Mt. Rushmore" math educators. @mburnsmath makes #4. I have learned so much from each, and have led me to learning from even more math educators. Thank you for stretching my brain!
@MathTeacher1123 My wife has enjoyed chaga tea from mushrooms. No caffeine, but can be mixed w/ cold brew and oatmilk in varying concentrations. Worth a look.
@aj_wade @MathTeacher1123 ...grew up in a VERY rural part of Iowa. Wouldn't trade that upbringing for anything. There's more appreciation for opportunity, I think. That often makes it easier to transition from rural to urban than urban to rural.
