🆘 Dear @JamesPagetNHS ,

Your breast surgeon has confirmed that she’s got a Physician Associate who is working as a first Assistant (mid-level) during surgical operations 💀☠️.

⭕️ Many surgical Registrars and CSTs would fight tooth and nail for the opportunity to train in breast surgery. They spend thousands of pounds on exams and courses to improve their CVs, yet this job was offered to a newly qualified PA!

⭕️ This PA is allowed to perform minor breast procedures under local anaesthetic, assess and manage new referrals from GPs in primary care, and see patients in clinics—despite having zero understanding of breast anatomy and oncology!

⭕️ Most surgeons allow their first Assistants to close up the wound. This PA may not suture the wound in a cosmetic manner, potentially leaving a significant scar with a huge psychological impact on the lady. Not every patient can afford to see a plastic surgeon privately.

Can I ask the surgical dudes working in this Trust: how do you guys enjoy your food while the PA is doing all the fancy stuff, and you're only drafting discharge letters for her?

In the past 30-50 years America has turned to mental health experts for advice on parenting, responding to childhood emotional/behavioral problems & how to promote well-being. Public schools have promoted social & emotional learning, counseling & program after program. Psychiatry has gone from relative obscurity to a primary medical speciality. At least 20% of young people are now on some psychiatric drug.

AND EVERYTHING IS MUCH WORSE!
NOT ONLY NO PROGRESS.. BUT WORSENING COLLECTIVE MENTAL HEALTH. ALL AVAILABLE STATISTICS SHOW THAT IF YOU FOLLOW STANDARD ADVICE AND RECEIVE STANDARD TREATMENT YOU ARE LIKELY TURNING AN EPISODIC PROBLEM INTO A CHRONIC DISABILITY.

I don't believe we have enough psychiatric disorders. Can somebody get me in touch w/ the DSM committee so I can propose a few more disorders.

1. Medical Professional Delusional Disorder: The belief a medical professional can quickly diagnose a mental disorder without any empirical method, history, context or objective testing & prescribe a manufactured chemical compound from a factory to "cure" or manage this manufactured condition. The condition should be designated as severe if the medical professional informs patients they require the drug for life or believe it is correcting an underlying "chemical imbalance". If the medical professional continues to act on this belief despite all available evidence that their patient is worsening it is strong evidence they should be involuntarily hospitalized and subjected to the same treatment they provide their patients as part of necessary reality testing to ultimately cure the condition.

2. Blind Obedience Disorder: When somebody engages in behaviors that have the potential to harm themselves or others; or impact the freedom or liberty of themselves or others; just because an authority figure told them to do. Is often accompanied by a resistance toward critical thinking and a fear of behaving outside of the approval of others.
