@xueyan94600@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK Sweden is a good exception but in general the Nordic model’s tax structure, labour protections and welfare systems limit that wealth accumulation at the top. Sweden still aggressively redistributes that wealth which is why they have lower inequality
@JBTC1971@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK nothing says compassion like shutting down UK factories to pay people £2 an hour overseas while pocketing billions. Truly philanthropic
@YuriABezmenov@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK Yes true but it’s on a very small scale, wealth structure still funnels up sharply. Plus most corporations don’t have big stock options such as Nvidia
@YuriABezmenov@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK ..underpaid labour, tax loopholes or squeezing suppliers to maximise profit. So while the system rewards efficiency and ownership, it doesn’t really reward fairness. That’s sort of the whole exploitation part the people creating the value often don’t share much of the reward 2/2
@YuriABezmenov@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK I hear you, a business needs to produce something of value to stay afloat, but I think the issue about billionaires isn’t really that they don’t produce anything it’s more about how that wealth is distributed. A company can make a great product but still rely on.. 1/2
@YuriABezmenov@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK That’s not true, small business owners create value through their own work. Billionaires accumulate wealth mainly by owning and controlling assets that others work to make profitable. Their income grows even when they don’t produce anything new, exactly what causes inequality
@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK I think you’re highlighting visible economic contributions whilst ignoring the structural side of how wealth and power is accumulated. Dyson literally moved production to Malaysia to cut labour cost, those savings come from paying workers far less than in the UK. That is.. 1/2
@Im_Rightest@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK Strong labour laws on paper don’t mean they’re enforced or effective. The UK still has one of the highest rates of in-work poverty in the west, people working full time and still can’t afford rent or food. Imagine thinking exploitation disappears just because it’s illegal
@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK Yet they have robust economies. They have an obligation to the welfare of their citizens, there’s not a massive gap between the upper class and working class. I just think this view of the exploitation of labour being net positive is a bit silly just my opinion though (3/3)
@DanielPriestley@AliMilaniUK somewhere in a stagnant economy which you know. Countries with the lowest inequality gaps and highest standards of living, the obvious examples being the scandinavian social democracies, also coincidentally have some of the lowest number of billionaires in the west (2/3
@Matthew11204997 @omarc0min @RedCardGiven Yeah i mean only duran will know if it was intentional but with his left leg buckling before find it hard to believe, happy xmas to you too pal 👍
@villanK7@AvfcU@CraigHope_DM Exactly this. Everyone’s saying it looks intentional when watching slow motion videos, at full speed he is literally just stumbling over with no place to put his foot
