High-performing students who are balancing school with sports, music, the arts, volunteering, or other extracurriculars shouldn't be punished for it.
These experiences don't take away from a student's education - they are part of it. They build leadership, discipline, teamwork, and prepare young people for life beyond the classroom. Policies that could hurt final grades, university admissions, or scholarship opportunities completely miss the point.
If the government wants to improve attendance, it should focus on the real issues: smaller class sizes, better mental health supports, and safer schools.
Let's invest in students, not punish them. #onpoli

NEW: Most of the Ford government's 1 per cent boost to core education funding this year isn't new money.
$234.2M (about 74 per cent of the increase) comes from existing education dollars shifted from other funding envelopes, according to ministry data.

Everyone is assuming Doug Ford and Calandra don’t ‘get’ public education or kids
Bad news: they don’t want public education to exist. They don’t care about kids.
“Even (Premier Doug) Ford’s supervised boards can’t make do” with the funding levels, @ETFOpresident David Mastin told the @TorontoStar. “This government has tried to present an argument that other groups, trustees and the like, are to blame for colossal failures in policy and budget decisions that this government has made since they came to power in 2018. They have no one else to blame.” #onted #onpoli
TDSB, TCDSB and other supervised school boards reveal millions in deficits despite big cuts. Critics say it proves underfunding https://t.co/xSTcYf2MMN via @torontostar
Despite being under provincial supervision due to alleged financial mismanagement, both the Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board are projecting deficits for the 2026-2027 school year. https://t.co/lQSXwtooo9
@krushowy@TorontoStar The OCDSB supervisor made $18 million in cuts and still ran a $3.5 million deficit. He tried to sugar coat the cuts by announcing 20 new EA positions. Problem is this is not replacing the EA positions cut previously and the new positions amount to 0.16 EA per school. WTF.
Stopping play to ensure the goalie is alright shouldn’t go away at u11. This sends the wrong message about player safety and adds additional concussion risks because trainers are unable to check the goalie until another stoppage. You need to revisit this rule change
@OntarioLacrosse regarding your email this morning about balls to the head and goalies. The rule change isn’t working. My kid who is a 14 y/o goalie has been hit in the head a dozen times this year. Cage shots. One that broke a buckle, made her ear pop. Zero stoppages.
@RandomSecretary One of the takeaways is that the Calandra appointed administrator was not able to balance the budget despite some very large staffing cuts. 11.5 million deficit. The trustees he replaced did a much better job.
I need you to understand how FUCKING INSANE this story Jeremy broke is.
The separatists legally obtained Alberta electoral data....and then proceeded to PUBLISH IT AS A SEARCHABLE DATABASE WITH THE NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF OVER HALF OF THE POPULATION OF THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA!!!!!
