So stop measuring your life against someone else's timeline.
You're not behind. You're still bulding. And you're right on time.
I'm starting to doubt I'll be able to raise the full amount for my treatment.
Organizing such a fundraiser is truly exhausting for me, especially mentally.
I have no energy left, and I feel terrible when I have to ask strangers for money.
I'm fed up with what's happened to me.
Sorry, but this is a very weak take in a complex issue. The conciet is that hitting your children is automatically abuse. This is not true. Discipline and abuse are not the same thing, and conflating the two is to be at the least ignorant, at the most dishonest. The world isn't so black and white.
Let’s be clear: deliberately injuring or brutalizing a child is abuse, full stop. But a controlled spanking, with clear purpose and context, is not the same as a beating born of rage. This as been borne out by countless parents, who over centuries have doled light corporal punishment to reinforce boundaries. That doesn’t make them monsters. It makes them parents who are teaching consequences.
Your sidewalk analogy is apples to oranges. You're not raising some random adults on the street. You're not legally or morally responsible for their behavior. You're not trying to teach them right from wrong. Comparing parenting to assaulting a stranger is just an appeal to emotion, not logic.
Has everyone who has been spanked turned out fine? No. Of course not. But most did. In fact, more who weren’t disciplined at all ended up entitled, reckless, or even dangerous. Parenting isn’t about indulging every pop-psych trend. It’s about raising functional human beings, which sometimes requires more than time-outs and “gentle conversations.”
Let’s stop pretending all discipline is trauma, and that all violence is abuse. It's simply not true. It is far more nuanced than what is being suggested above.
