*Subject - Regarding Revision of Central Residency Scheme, 1992*

A productive meeting was held with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, to discuss the review and update of the Residency Scheme 1992.

*F.A.I.M.A. was represented by Chief Patron & Medico Social Activist Dr Rohan Krishnan*

We highlighted key challenges faced by resident doctors and proposed reforms focusing on working hours.

In the meeting we had put forth and we are glad to announce that many of our suggestions were taken up by the officials & D.G.H.S.

*Highlights of the meeting*
1. *Working Hours* of Residents ( both S.R. & J.R. ) Should not exceed more than 48 hours a week with atleast one off every week on roatation basis.

2. *Thesis grant* - An important project for every resident, we are glad to announce that D.G.H.S. Had agreed on increasing thesis grant of 10,000 rs for every resident . Best part is that it will be given to *All* the residents unanimously, so the residents will not have to follow a long procedure of applying for the grant.
3. ⁠*Salary of APs* - At present, Salary of APs is less than that of SR3. This will now be solved and APs salary will be increased to more than that of SR3.

4. *Health Benefits & CGHS card to both PGs and SRs* -
We had put forward that all SRs and PGs shall be entitled to CGHS Health scheme.

5. *Provision of adequate Hostel facilities for Residents*

At Present Hostel Facilities at Central Government Hospitals are not upto the requirements, with Hospitals like Safdarjung which has 1800 Residents and accommodation for only 700 residents makes it difficult for the residents to work in a safe and sound accommodation.
D.G.H.S. Has ensured that no other building projects will be sanctioned at Safdarjung unless the Hostel upto the requirements is met.

6. *Book Grant for All Pgs*
At Present Residents are given two thousand rupees to purchase a book every year during this tenure.
We are glad to inform that this has been promised to increase by 15 thousand for the entire duration, one time purchase.

*There were many other topics discussed regarding the welfare of residents , we are thankful to Honourable Minister, Shri J.P. Nadda for coming up with the initiative, as revision of Central Residency Scheme was one of the demands of F.A.I.M.A. During RG Kar strike and which was reinforced by National Task force which was constituted by Honourable Chief Justice of India*

We also thank Honourable D.G.H.S. , Dr Atul Goel , Designate D.G.H.S. , Dr Sunita Sharma , Honourable A.D.G, Dr Srinivas & Other Officials of Ministry.
