There is a finished computer chip at a new plant in Sanand, Gujarat. India put it together. Almost none of the parts inside it are Indian.
That one chip explains how far India's chip effort has got, and how far it has not. Here's what has been built, and what has not. 🧵
@AbijitG The ones who pay the highest price for reservation are the ones who are academically good because they have to settle for something less than merit would have given them in an ideal state.
An Indian institute filmed a professor teaching classical physics with no notes, no slides, and a green board. Almost nobody outside India watches it.
This is Classical Physics, lecture 1, taught by V. Balakrishnan at IIT Madras, published free by NPTEL, India's national open courseware programme.
Balakrishnan taught at IIT Madras for decades. Students who sat in that room describe the same thing: the whole subject held in his head, delivered in order, no paper on the podium.
Lecture 1 is the introduction. What classical mechanics claims, where the claims hold, and the exact points where they stop holding and quantum takes over.
Watch how he speaks. Complete sentences, no filler, each idea finished before the next begins. Rare in any lecture hall on any continent.
A physicist I know worked through the whole NPTEL series and rates it above the western courses he paid for.
Free on YouTube, 17 years online, low resolution, no marketing.
The teaching was never concentrated in the famous universities.
Another glorious chapter in Indian Weightlifting!

A historic feat at the 2026 World Junior Squash Championship.
Proud of Anahat Singh for winning the Gold Medal and becoming the first Indian squash player ever to win the World Junior Championship title. This accomplishment will further popularise squash among the youth.

Finally Achina Mayya calls out that Meta has been “customising” users feeds, comments etc. No two people see the same reality of an event.
Listen to her and this was done on a hyper engagement level for the last few days.
I just realized he posted these photos with Odisha MPs as a show of strength to Modi. He effectively has support of 20 MPs which makes him as crucial for the coalition as Naidu or Nitish.
Well played sir 🫡
This is not how paper leaking works. The coaching centers buy the leaked paper. They dont then just pass it on to students saying "hey here is the leaked paper - enjoy!"
The coaching center has a "last minute revision" session. Their top students are segregated separately. The students are bright and will get very high scores anyway. They are now asked to practice 200 "mock" questions. 50 of these are leaked questions. If a bright kid has seen a question, he/she will remember it and get a huge advantage in an exam. They largely dont know they are being fed leaked questions.
A bright kid who may have got 690 marks anyway will now get 710 marks because he/she has seen a few questions before. He/she most likely did not know it was being fed - they were not in on the conspiracy.
Smart coaching institute owners wont leak questions to dumb students. In fact this is why it blew up this time - some coaching center got too greedy.
France passes law banning social media for under 15s, becoming the first country to do so in EU. Existing accounts to be closed.
Australia was the 1st country to do so. Indonesia was the first non western country to do so. UAE, Malaysia, UK have announced banned.
Did you know that global finance wasn't actually pioneered by the West?
Long before Wall Street, credit cards, or modern risk analysis existed, Acharya Chanakya (Kautilya) wrote down the exact working code of finance in the Arthashastra 2,300 years ago.
From कुसीद (interest) to dynamic risk premiums, ancient India laid the groundwork for how money flows today.
