VIDEO | Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh: After three-day standoff at Nagrasu Gurdwara in Rudraprayag district and a protest march at the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border, Nihang Sikhs are still in talks with the Uttarakhand government over their demands.
Responding on this, a Nihang Sikh says, "As you are all aware, a dispute has been simmering for the past few days between the administration and the 'Sangat' (devotees) of Uttarakhand and Punjab. During the ongoing Sri Hemkund Sahib Yatra in Uttarakhand, a jatha (group) of Nihang Singhs on their pilgrimage was subjected to severe misbehavior. Following that, the police arrested them, subjected them to atrocities, beat them up, and used third-degree torture. They then registered an FIR and threw them into jail. In response to this, the collective Nihang Singh Dal along with Jathedars of various other Nihang Singh factions set out on a march. We will secure justice for the atrocities committed against our Sikhs and our Singhs. The Uttarakhand government must immediately withdraw the FIR registered against our Singhs, and cross-FIRs must be lodged against the local perpetrators who attacked them."

The IO (Investigation Officer) should be terminated. Second, action should be taken against guilty Police officers. Third, Police officials who presented our people before the Court and kept them at Police Station without even a case should be terminated...So, we demand that all Police officials who did this should be suspended. We will go back from here only when our 4 Singhs will leave with us. We should not be stopped, we should be allowed passage to Rudraprayag."
