6th grade STEM has their design process posters out on display! We broke down the steps necessary to complete a strong prototype using visual representation. #STEMedu#LeadwithHart#designersatHART
We are beaming with pride watching our 6th graders teach RCS elementary school students about STEM and their own game designs! #LeadWithHart@hartstemmd
After a very long and well thought out building process, 8th grade has started to test out their prototypes. We have taken simple machines to the next level with some of these catapults! Some really creative thinkers here at Hart. #stemdesign#leadwithhart#simplemachines
Our simple machines photo scavenger hunt brought #STEM students to the Wood Shop today! Thank you @hartstemmd for allowing us to explore! #leadwithHART
Our prototypes are almost ready for their motors! We have evolved (kinda like in the real world) and have moved from using rubber bands to motors/batteries as a source of energy. Our designers are hard at work to make sure the cars are ready to use this new level of power 👍#stem
6th grade EV3 Robot sensor challenge in action! The goal is to allow your robot to sense and react to walls. It is working just like a Roomba 🤣 #stemedu#leadwithHART
Using ping pong balls has definitely provided a different set of challenges for our 2nd semester group. They have persevered though and here's one of our latest trial runs in 1st hour. #stemedu#stemengineers#designprocess
2nd semester's new 7th grade group has dug in once again with waterside structures. Based on the planning, I can tell the coolest part is going to be how different these ideas will be compared to last semester! Creativity is limitless 👍 #stem#youngengineers
Our 6th grade engineers have started their tireless work on constructing toothpick bridges that we will later test to see how much weight they can hold. The planning stages are almost over and pictures of the building phases are on the way! #stem#leadwithHART
One aspect of learning that inspires creativity is the knowledge of the way technology has been improved through the years. 7th grade explores this and takes part in a gallery walk as well to further learn and share an understanding of how we got where we are today! #STEMedu
Our 6th grade engineers have moved onto bridge design! Using their knowledge of forces and structure design, the goal is to create a bridge that can be used to ease the traffic going into downtown Rochester. I am sure we would all be in favor of a plan like this! #STEM#stemedu
Our 7th graders have taken on the role of architects and have started the challenge of designing a water slide in the form of a scaled down model. Using their skills in drafting, budgeting, and structure design, this project is looking great! #stem#leadwithHART
Try, try, and try again! 6th grade is programming their robots to do tasks such as completing a maze. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts, but the end result is always amazing! #stem#leadwithHART
Our think tanks have begun for 8th grade's syringe robot challenge! This STEM project relates to the construction field, medical field, and so many more. Robotics is all around us and I can't wait to see where this goes! #STEM#robotics#stemedu
Check out some of the mousetrap prototypes being designed in 7th grade! Continuing our car design unit, we have now moved to a car with a motor in the form of a mouse trap! Newton's Laws are in full force with this one! #stem#engineering#stemedu#automotivedesign
Testing has begun in 8th grade! Catapults are very difficult to engineer properly so we are testing our prototypes before finalizing our designs! #stem#stemegineering#brightminds#leadwithhart
