Slavers used Christianity to try to “tame” the enslaved. To make them believe slavery was God’s will, rape and brutality were what the enslaved deserved.

European settlers called Indians "savage” because they didn't live the way Europeans did.

The indigenous culture was crushed. They were slaughtered and forced to relocate.

The United States committed atrocities against Africans, African Americans, and Native Americans in the name of Christianity.

There were lynching picnics. Souvenirs taken from mutilated Black bodies.

This is American history. Hiding it gives racists cover to recommit atrocities of the past. #FreshWords

Keep a Theft Journal:

In Austin Kleon’s Steal Like an Artist, he recommends a theft journal.

Your goal is to never come up with anything from scratch.

Take a journal (or spreadsheet) and divide it into a few categories.

I use:

• Quotes
• Best hooks
• Best endings
• Favorite lines
• Character names

Your categories won’t be the same. Base them on your end goal.

I like having 3-5 categories.

Enough to become a great backlog of ideas, but not overwhelming to keep track of.

I’m reminded of a quote from TS Eliot:

“The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique, utterly different from that from which it was torn.”

Point:

The more sources of inspiration you take from, the more original your ideas and stories become.

Make it easy to save and later find those sources.

Add your story to borrowed elements. Weld something new.

This photograph depicts the arrest of John Lewis in Tennessee in 1961 for his role in organizing and participating in civil rights demonstrations.

In that same year, at just 21 years old, Lewis faced an assault by two men in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as he attempted to enter a "whites only" waiting room. The attack left him with injuries to his face and ribs.

Subsequently, Lewis was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, where he spent close to 40 days in state prison for his refusal to leave the "whites only" section of a local bus station.

Following his release, Lewis joined 12 other freedom riders in Birmingham, Alabama, where they were subjected to a vicious attack by a mob of KKK members armed with baseball bats, metal pipes, chains, and rocks.

Escaping to Montgomery, Lewis sustained a blow to the head with a wooden crate during the ordeal, recalling later that it was an extremely violent encounter, and he feared for his life.

In 1965, Lewis led another civil rights protest, marching alongside approximately 600 individuals from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery. The marchers were met with brutality from state troopers who wielded clubs, bullwhips, and tear gas. On that infamous day, known as "Bloody Sunday," Lewis suffered a skull fracture.

In 2009, John Lewis witnessed the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. Following the ceremony, he approached the first black President with a piece of paper, and upon receiving his autograph, Obama wrote, "Because of you, John. Barack Obama."

“Sound of Freedom” is a dangerous child-trafficking exploitation film being weaponized to incite a death cult to target Democrats in order to destabilize American democracy.

It was funded by actual sex traffickers and accused sexual predators.

The brainwashed “star” believes Satanic Democrats are drinking children’s blood and regularly appears at Mike Flynn’s QAnon radicalization events.

The alleged “hero” of the film has funneled tens of millions of dollars from donations to his own bank accounts after raising money from conspiracy theories like children being shipped in Wayfair furniture—and from selling “the raid experience” to wealthy donors.

At the end of the film people are invited to donate money to frauds using their phones.

Your “review” elides all of this and gives it credit for having an authentic purpose or story.

It’s QAnon propaganda and you just helped it along.
