The reason why #02A is doing a U-turn back into #India instead of the Arabian Peninsula is due to a trough that digs down into #Pakistan. This trough will guide likely-to-be #Shakhti towards the east & into 🇮🇳. Impacts are expected to be minimal but this may change.

Here's the forecast cone from JTWC of #02A. It's not expected to get too strong & succumb to wind shear & dry air before it gets to #Oman. Sadly, over a dozen were killed by the precursor due to flooding in #Gujarat & #Madya Pradesh in #India.

We haven't had any appreciable activity in the NIO basin since Remal. But #91A is our latest TS in the Arabian Sea that's about to move off of #Gujurat, #India. 91A is a DD per IMD & should stay S of #Pakistan & move W towards #Oman. #Asna is the next name on the list & this could be an extremely rare cyclonic storm in the month of August.
